It took a tough stretch of six games, but the Calgary Flames' offense finally found itself Monday night at home against the Los Angeles Kings in a six-goal outburst.

The Western Conference club will need that type of outing Thursday night when it embarks on a season-long six-game road trip that starts on Florida's Gulf Coast. The Flames will face the Tampa Bay Lightning, with both teams owning two-game winning streaks.

The upside - they scored six goals.

The downside - they allowed five.

But at the end of the day, the most notable aspect of the game was the victory and a big two points as the Flames held on to win their second straight tilt with a 6-5 decision over the Kings on Monday night at the Scotiabank Saddledome.

TOP PERFORMERS: Nikita Kucherov has seven goals and 15 assists for the Lightning. Nicholas Paul has scored five goals with four assists over the past 10 games.

Nazem Kadri has seven goals and seven assists for the Flames. Elias Lindholm has scored four goals and added seven assists over the past 10 games.

Hopefully they show up today and Markstrom can save the first shot as well as any weird angle shots.

Crucial road trip starts to try to maintain pace with other teams in the division/conference. With US Thanksgiving approaching in a week, I believe it was Darryl that said something along the lines that teams that are going to make the playoffs have to be in, or within the playoff spots by that checkpoint in the schedule.

Fair amount of competitive matchups along the way. See how they do.

Hopefully +.900 goaltending from Markstrom is on the trip.

Opened up my browser this morning and I saw this headline flash "I hate it here"

Because the Lightning are wearing their hideous white Reverse Retros tonight, it's the rare game wearing red on the road. Based on the photos from practice yesterday, since Telus is the helmet sponsor for road games this season, they'll even have Telus ads on the red helmets...



It's funny that someone on the equipment staff had to prepare all those helmet stickers for just one game.



Does anyone know the last time the Flames wore red in a designated road game? Since the league switched to wearing white on the road, I believe the Flames have worn red on the road a few times when the home team was wearing a special light jersey (recent Canucks and Kings anniversaries come to mind).

In those rare cases, I don't think the Flames ever wore the retros on the road, so this is likely the first time the Flames have worn this style of red jersey on the road since 1994.
