Default Flames 6 Kings 5

Flames 6 Kings 5

- Six different goal scorers
- Huberdeau and Mangiapane snap funks
- Markstrom fights the puck but saves the game with a late save
- Flames have won two in a row and head out on the road

great write-up, as always

I thought Dube was really good tonight, had a lot of energy and was getting involved defensively. Maybe cetering the 4th line IS where he needs to be - he can provide speed and tenacity tot he line, and his ice cold shooting won't kill any of the other lines

Meaning you disagree?

I hear you with six against, but he made a lot of saves to keep this one debatable.

10 high danger five on five alone in the second period.

He out goalied Markstrom for sure.

Yeah, Quick was really good in the second

The only bad goal, IMO was Toffoli's 2 on 1 - he massively over-committed to Lindholm for some reason, leaving Toffoli with a wide open net.

Not sure what else you could fault him for. And then he made a ton of big saves in the second.

I agree that he outgoalied Markstrom. But when you make a big save to preserve the W, all is forgiven, IMO.

Quick was hung out to dry by that LA defense. So many turnovers.

I thought so too when the goal happened. But then, on the replay from behind the net it looked nearly unstoppable. That would have been a dazzling, highlight-reel save, had Quick made it.

I thought he didn't hold his ground on the Ritchie goal very well. But I was on the opposite side of the ice from the side it went in.

No, I don’t disagree

Just didn’t expect to see it called out, and people agreeing with it. It’s nice

But the reason that it would have been nearly unstoppable was that he was too far out of his net, making the move to the other side too great.

It's a 2 on 1, and the forwards are still just inside the blueline. If he stays in his net, it is a simple shift across to the other angle, to face Toffoli, then move out to cut off the angle if he shoots.

But he was way outside his crease - for no reason, because Lindholm hadn't motioned to shoot - leaving him a 10-15 foot slide to get in front of Tolloli.

Anyway, whatever. We won, and when the Flames pass the Kings in the standings, no one is going to say "yeah, but the goaltending in that game..."
