Flames Training Camp Day 5 Notes: Mangiapane-Kadri-Phillips

Group 1 and 2 very much split like they were for the split squad games yesterday

Sounded like Ricthie may have hurt himself yesterday? Unsure if anyone can expand on that but might explain his move to group 3. Pospisil also pulled from the pre-season game so could be nursing something.

Think it could also mean, Ritchie and Pettersen might be hurt.

Pettersen blocked a shot, and looked hurt

Ritchie was hit by the puck high up, later in the game

If Mangiapane is actually skating with Group 2, will be interesting to see what line combos come out of that group.

Mangipane-Kadri-?

Phillips or Pelletier... or perhaps even Klapka.

Pelletier-Ruzicka-Klapka

Ruzicka has a good chance of being one of the 13-14 forwards, so I would like to see:

Pelletier - Zary - Klapka
Petterson - Schwindt - Phillips

The Wranglers are going to be pretty good this year

Many of us penciled in Pelletier, but given how it has gone to-date I want to see Phillips get some reps with the big boys...

Coleman - Backlund - Phillips
Mangiapane - Kadri - Phillips
Lucic - Rooney/Ruzicka - Phillips

He got hit by a Lucic shot while standing in front of the net. He was facing the puck, and it looked like the puck hit him in the lower body. He limped off the ice and seemed to be in some discomfort. That’s all I saw, because I was trying to watch both games at the same time.

I wonder if they are going to do special team installs today, they ran a pretty vanilla powerplay unit yesterday. Every team plays the 1-3-1 formation now, looked like we just ran our top line and Hanifin and Anderson.

I wonder if Sutter uses Huberdeau on the PK as well, he's talked about how it helped keep him engaged in the game with Florida last year. Sutter has used his stars on the PK before.

I really wanna see

Huberdeau - Lindholm - Phillips
Milano - Kadri - Toffoli
Mangiapane - Backlund - Coleman
Lucic - Ruzicka - Dube / Dube - Ruzicka - Lewis

I know you are excited about him and all, but the kid can't play on all three lines - who do you think he is, McDinglepuss?

Players with NHL contracts cannot be put on waivers for assignment to the AHL until 12 days before the season starts. AHL camps usually start up then.
