Default How much time should top-line Toffoli be given to connect?

The top line has been all over the map. Strong underlying numbers in one or two games only. Toffoli hasn't looked like he can do anything with Huberdeau's passes at times.

Some people want them broken up. But should they be given a bit of time considering they're winning and seem to be contributing in other circumstances, like Toffoli's OT winner and powerplay contributions?

However long it takes, if all other lines maintain their chemistry.

Unless you want to break up the depth at center, there isn't really much to do at this point. And that is never going to happen anyway. You don't just find top line RW'ers at this point in the season. And given that Toffoli has 3 goals in 5 games and Sutter loves him and Stanley Cup champions in general, the leash is going to be quite long.

Toffoli might have actually individually been the best player on that line so far.

Huberdeau seems to finding his game as he tries to commit to being a 200ft player and learning from Sutter.

Lindholm to me has been the biggest issue with that line, just looks out of sorts to me and is struggling to make plays both offensively and defensively.

Yep, I think Lindholm and Toffoli are just a step behind Huberdeau. Give it time, they will get it and they are just getting warmed up.

Toffoli has been great, let's pump the brakes here.

Toffolie *isn’t a problem. He’s just not a top line player. Good pp guy and second line maybe third..

We need a Patrick Kane type player on the right side

In previous years, hell - even last year, when the top line wasn't firing on all cylinders the team just wasn't right. This year, this is obviously not the case. We have skilled depth and the team can carry itself in many different iterations.

The top line will *really* take off soon and that will just be another treat for us all to enjoy.

Why fix what ain't broke? As long as the W's pile up, keep it the same. Maybe a Lewis swap for Phillips?

Yes, it can't be expected of any of them, who have never really played together before, to just suddenly have chemistry. They're still feeling each other out and will certainly get going once they've logged some more time together, and yes, played a few weaker teams with easier matchups.

It's not exactly an easy task to develop the offensive rapport when you're tasked with matching up against teams like Carolina, Edmonton, Colorado and Vegas.

Lindholm has worse numbers and has been on the ice for 0 goals for at even strength so far. They haven't been great as a line, but I don't know if this is all on Toffoli.

The line could use more speed though, but the Kadri line has been great so hard to split them up.

Lindholm is looking like the weak link to me. Huberdeau would have a lot more points with Kadri. I would not have guessed Monahan would be outscoring Lindholm at any point in the season lol

The underlying numbers with them are interesting. They've only had one or two games where their possession metrics were strong at even strength so I think you keep giving them opportunities until it looks like that is hurting the team rather than helping.

Honestly I think the key is Huberdeau forgetting how good a passer he is and not worrying about making an impression on his teammates and firing some pucks on net to create a little more mystery as to what he's going to do.
