This video of Kipper’s last game popped up on my TL and it had me reminiscing of how great he was. He was a consistent workhorse (Six seasons where he played 70+ games), top tier reflexes, is the franchise’s all time goalie leader in wins and shoutouts and is the only Flames goalie to win the Vezina. He may not have won a cup with the team like Vernon, but he has the numbers to back up being the best goalie in franchise history. Will we ever see #34 in the rafters?

Again what people often forget is that the player has to agree to have their number retired and participate in the ceremony.
I wouldn't be surprised if the Flames have wanted to honour him in some way and he's said no. Though I'm not sure if they would have offered number retirement.
But it's also one of the main reasons Chopper's number isn't retired. He didn't want it to be retired by the Flames because he fancies himself more a Blue.

Has he ever been back to Canada? These ceremonies always factor the presence in.
Believe he lived here for a year after he retired, moved back to Finland, and then didn’t come back until he was on the jumbotron in a random game in 2019-20 and got a big applause/ovation
He had 3 elite seasons because his last couple he had potato teams in front of him.
Imagine if he was in net the past three seasons, I don’t think he would have looked nearly as bad as markstrom did in the playoffs. Maybe even had won that ####ing #### oilers series.
We would be Grade A Cup contenders with Kiprusoff in either last year’s or the current team. He is the best goalie I have ever seen in a Flames jersey.

Didn’t Conroy say they want to honour him but can’t get him over here? And then suddenly Kipper showed up (while Conroy was out of town evidently) for like the first time in 6-7 years?
