3. Graduates and/or runoffs will be determined in each case
4. Please don't complain that the polls are going to deep. We go until all the prospects are ranked, so don't vote if you don't want to.

I would still go Mackey/Valimaki as guys that are closer (but with a lower ceiling). I would reiterate a point I made earlier that the prospect depth isn't that bad. No likely superstars but a bunch of potential NHLers going down in the 8-10 range.

O.K. there has been a lot of talk on whether or not MacTavish has actually done a good job for us, most fans on this board are very basic in their analysis and I feel would change their opinion entirely if the team was successful.

Mackey , but I think he gets traded before becoming a regular.

Went with Valimaki, but could have easily gone with any of the other three.

Mackey has the lowest ceiling but the highest floor, whereas Kerins and Poirier have higher ceilings IMO. Valimaki is in the middle. Hopefully he has a bounce back season this upcoming year.

Many defensemen don't find their pro game until after they are 23. Kyllington is an excellent example for how patience pays off. With that in mind, I still have faith Valimaki is an NHLer.

I think if you are still putting Mackey and Valimaki in the same group, then you didn't really see them play last year and are basing this on reputation.

Valimaki needs to have a tremendous season in the AHL just to be back in the Flames' longterm plans. His stock has fallen a lot.

Mackey could probably stick as a full time NHLer this year if there was an opening.

They two aren't really close to each other.

At the same time, Mackey is turning 26 in September, has 9 games of NHL experience and is at best 7th on the depth chart for dmen on the team right now, and Valimaki played 49/56 games in the Covid season, played well in 18-19 and might’ve stuck if he didn’t get injured, and before his injury was looking real good, so at his age the potential is still there.

The thing that Kylington has always had going for him is his speed. He can blow past guys on a regular basis. He just needed to simplify some other aspects of his game.

Valimaki is the exact opposite in that regard.

I don't remember him being slow in his rookie year. Did that knee injury really destroy his skating or am I misremembering?

His mobility has really been hampered. It was difficult to watch last season.

Yeah, it's easy to forget that Mackey is older than 3 of the Flames' main 6-man d-core from last season, and only about a year younger than Zadorov.
