Doug Mitchell Has Passed
Not sure if this is truly Fire on Ice, but he was involved with the Flames, and hugely in the Calgary sports scene, so I did not want it to get buried.

Very sad day for a true Calgary Sports Icon.
He was an absolute gentleman, in the truest sense of the word.
RIP Doug.

Doug Mitchell was a kind man, who with his wife Lois spent many volunteer hours in the Calgary community. As a kid I caught lots of footballs from Mr. Mitchell as we played pickup games in our local park. He used a drive a cool dark blue Ford TBird with suicide doors. Owned a string of race horses. And who can forget his Stamps radio broadcasts with Ken “Noodles” Newans?!
Rest In Peace Doug Mitchell

RIP. He was on our BoD, got to meet him once, seemed like a very genuine man.

This seems so sudden, he and his wife were special guests at the Dawgs game this past Saturday. They gave a wave to the crowd when it was announced. He did a lot for sports in Calgary.
