Sutter is going Dallas way. No talent needed, just hard to play against big bodies and hope Markstrom holds up. Big hope.

Should've brought in Bowness as an assistant/co-coach then if we're aiming to be the most frustrating team of this era.

Calagry doesn't likely have the draft capital required to pull off a trade for a guy like Kane and Miller, and it's unlikely Kane waves for Calgary. NYR may be a different matter.

This question isn't for those advocating a passive/patient approach.
What gamble would you make if you were Brad looking to close the gap left by Gaudreau and give Sutter a competitive team again for next season?
Any outside of the box ideas that haven't been floated?

We don't have our 2023 3rd rounder, so the offer sheet for Laine would have to be at least $10.5 million AAV and would cost four 1st rounders. An offer less than that would have to include a 3rd rounder.
I mentioned it in another thread, but maybe the Jackets would trade down in order to get a cheaper player that could play in the top 6 but still contribute while getting cap space.
I know it's not in the spirit of this thread, but I think the team is handcuffed until they know what is happening with Tkachuk. I would be in favour of adding either Klingberg or Kadri if the cap hit and terms were agreeable, but there is no point if Tkachuk can't be extended or a player of equal value brought back in a trade.

First Line Centre

Sell high on Hanifin, then flip assets for chychrun, whom I believe will provide better offense and defense than Noah.

I hate to see big contracts to 30ish year old UFA's, but if they're not going to tear it down Kadri and Klingberg would plug a couple pretty big holes in the roster.
I'd rather they do something like that than trade prospect/draft capital in a trade.
I'm betting we see a Tkachuk trade this summer. Hopefully the return is good.

You get a Center like jt Miller paired with eat bread this team looks entirely different. We won’t rebuild which means whatever you spend your money on right now it better be a Center.

Agreed. Why does he have to be on the Canucks.. dammit.
Creating a solid 1-2 punch at center is what I would aim for too.

No, it’s more of a “Why did they have to get rid of Benning”

Kane seems like a total ######, but he would make the team fun to watch and would bring more cup winning experience.

Yes. Yes it is that.
Benning would take on Lucic while we're at it.

I bet he's gone at the deadline.
He has to wait for the Rangers to bank cap space for him
