Gaudreau caused the loss to the Oilers in the 2022 playoffs
This is one reason I'm not regretting that the Flames didn't sign Gaudreau.
I was surprised at the time the media didn't comment much on this play. Gaudreau skated away, allowing the pass to McDavid, who then scores putting the series away.
The suggestion was he was going to cover the defenceman. That's garbage, he needed to stay on Drai. He was right there.

LOL. He left so he will get the blame. He wasn't great but there were way worse players for Calgary.
As a diehard Oiler fan, you should change the title to Markstrom for that series. Guy was absolutely horrible. His best game save percentage wise was the 4-0 loss in game 3. That says it right there.

THIS is why people make fun of Edmonton. When will this stupid city figure it out? They continue to kick their own ass every day, it's impossible not to make fun of them.
Seems to me that Gaudreau was playing the point, which is not that bad of a play. There were two guys on McDavid (looks like 28+19, who are still on the team) that couldn't stop him...

100% this.
Not to mention the fact that for some strange reason that is still completely baffling to me, the Flames stopped playing their usual defensive/high-pressure forecheck system and instead tried to match the Oilers' loosey goosey river hockey style, which only played into Edmonton's hands and made things worse.
