Does Dillon Dube have another level?
We could all use some positive news so I thought I would post this.
Darryl Belfry focused on Dube for an episode of his podcast. He went over Dillon's game & progression and how/where/why he can take his game to another level.
Sutter has focused on building trust into Dube’s defensive game and Belfry breaks some of this down and explains where he has room to grow.
Things seem bleak now, but maybe the vacancy in ice time next season is the opportunity Dillon needs to blossom?
Either way this is a good story to cleanse the palate this week.

Noticed improvements with his shot throughout the playoffs, which is uplifting. Hopefully no off-ice distractions this year.

Dube has scored some exciting goals but I’m still rather meh on him. Is he better than Lance Bouma? He could give some exciting shifts and hits.

I think he's still continuing to improve, no idea where he will end up at.

Dube reminds me of Kobasew. A bit of a cannonball, should score more but doesn't. Still a serviceable player. I except him to pop 20 goals at some point.

While they were flooding the ice during the scrimmage yesterday, I went over to look at the fitness facility that they have there. One wall is largely glass so that you can peer in to see the whole workout area. Inside was Dube working out along with 6 or 7 therapists watching on/advising (there may have been another player there - Phillips? There was a young boy in a Flames jersey and his father or grandfather standing outside the gym watching Dube. The boy clearly knew the player was Dube as he pointed it out to his relative. In the middle of his workout, Dube spotted the boy and immediately came out to talk to him for awhile. I know this isn't all that unusual but it is always cool to see.

When he first started in the NHL he looked like he had a lot potential, then he seem to lose confidence. I still think he be a good 2 way forward in the league.

He obviously needed more time in the AHL to iron out his defensive game so he would be unquestionably trusted by NHL coaches.
Hopefully his offensive instincts can grow & be utilized more next season. He has a great powerful stride, but like Belfry mentions, he needs to be more dynamic and incorporate more linear crossovers off of the rush to enable more creative play making.

Lemme put it this way. Under Sutter....Dube will be a complete player who'll finally blossom once he puts it all together.
He's one of the faster players but lacks consistency. What young players don't?
He seemed to be in and out of Darryls dog house last year and he and Mangiapane can I'll afford to mess around any longer as this upcoming year needs to be impactful.
Dube , Mangiapane, Pelletier, Ruszicka, Zary, Coronado....all of these guys either on thr team or on the cusp just need to play hard , worry only about thier games and not about anything else and they'll be fine......they'll get there under our current coaches .
I look at players we've seen in.the past that could have and should.have made it but just didn't. But that could be on the bad bad bad coaches we've had prior to Darryl comIng back.
Dube looks like a Lombardi/ Kobasew / Saprykin sometimes . He's slowly carving out something for himself and I'd love to see him as a top 6 and would be over the moon if he made it to the top line but he's got a ton of competition which is a good motivation.

He was clearly given assignments last year to improve his game away from the puck. Once those lessons are ingrained, as they may already have been, the confidence in his offensive abilities should re-emerge.
So in short, yes.

Let's not. There is thread for that, let's talk about Dube's outlook as a hockey player here.

You post a single word "no" and are honestly surprised that someone called you on it in a similar fashion?

Lmao, like you should be telling anyone to STFU. Like really, that's all you got? It is laughable to think Dube cannot get better and you know it. Just fishing for reactions, you do you.
