They have a few players on ELCs or league minimum contracts that help them retain their key players.

Moving forward I hope the Flames can try and model this management of their team. No more paying huge contracts for players in the bottom six or 3D pairing.

COL has no bad contracts - EJ @ 6M is the only one and he's only overpaid 2-3M at most.

I bet they come into season under the cap to accrue space, but they could also be in play for Giroux or Trocheck/Strome/Strome/Kadri.

I wonder if they look at Stastny - I'm not sure if he fits this bill but it can be smart to add a vet chasing a cup who everyone likes when going for a repeat. Maybe Brian Boyle?

I wouldn't be surprised if they sign an unqualified former RFA like Howden or Lindblom or Kubalik.

Great contract. I was hoping the Panthers would target him for a top 4 role, but the draw of a championship team is strong. I can't blame Manson for sticking around for a relatively cheap deal.
