Default Calgarypuck Prospect Ranking 2022 - Round 7 Run Off

Welcome to the annual Calgarypuck Prospect Poll!

As per usual ...

1. Rank the prospects as you like. Upside, chances, or trade value
2. I will try and do one a day which should get us to rookie camp range
3. Graduates and/or runoffs will be determined in each case
4. Please don't complain that the polls are going to deep. We go until all the prospects are ranked, so don't vote if you don't want to.

Link to previous years ... Link

Connor Mackey will be 26 at the start of the regular season. I really hope he makes the team this season. Otherwise, maybe he’ll be a promising prospect for his 27 year old season?

He has played 1 full season of pro hockey.

His path is not all that dissimilar to Giordano, minus the trip to Russia.

That guy turned out alright.

Mackey looked really good last year in limited action, but he needs to earn/get an opportunity to be a full-time NHLer with the Flames this season. Otherwise, his viability as a prospect for the Flames will be questionable for me because of age and because his contract is up at the end of this season.

I think the route to Mackey getting an opportunity is via injury or via Kylington being traded. I see Mackey as 4th on the LD depth chart.

I just don't see the ceiling there with Mackey.

At some point it becomes just as much about floor when you're pushing closer to the 10 spot on a prospect list.

I wouldn't use the outlier to prove the premise.

While it means he has a chance, it also means his odds are long.

Maybe it's silly to say, but Mackey is a bottom of the lineup guy, but Kerins is a mystery box.
Who knows what he could be? He could even be a bottom of the lineup guy!

This was no easy decision, I had to really think outside the box to make a decision. But Mackey is the choice.

Everybody at this point are long odds.

This fella was with the big club for about 3 months last year....in my mind that makes him more than just another "guy".
