"As you may know, the high price of oil means that Alberta's provincial government is expected to have record budget surpluses. In your opinion, should Alberta...
Keep this extra money to spend on provincial priorities
Share this extra money with the rest of Canada"
This is one of the dumbest questions I've ever heard. No way that people outside of Alberta say that Alberta should keep their money. Its human nature to want money if its up for the grabbing.

I'm not too keen on these questions either. Some of them seem really geared toward getting a certain answer. Are the Alberta questions being asked of Albertans or all Canadians?

Exactly... its way too partisan... regardless where you sit on the spectrum.
It makes Albertans paranoid and Canadians jealous. No good.
My guess is between 60-70% of Canadians say share, and under 25% of Albertans say share.

But the money isn't up for the grabbing. It shouldn't even be part of a poll because Canada has no right to the oil under the ground in Alberta.

Last time I checked, most of the Federal surplus was due to oil/gas taxes. The fed IS benefiting from the price of oil/gas. Almost half goes to them in some form of tax.
It should not be AB vs. the ROC. We all do well when a highly taxed industry does well.

who commissioned those questions, was it the CBC, or the Liberal's or both? If so, I've never ever seen questions more intent on fanning the Flames of East West seperation in my life.
Whoever created those questions should be fired, and if they ever phoned my home to ask me, I'd be phoning as high up in Reid as possible.
But they won't ask me because these are the type of questions that will be asked in a Eastern Poll
What a joke

Since when were media polling questions supposed to find impartial answers?
Sure they're slanted - slanted to get controversial things to talk about.
Gotta give the viewers what they want.

I would agree except for the inflammatory nature of these questions, they're designed to create a Alberta is evil poll results, and thats what I have a lot of problems with.
Its insulting that indirectly the tax payers are paying for reporting on the level of Entertainment Tonight.

on a less sarcastic note, the 'what to do with AB oil wealth' debate is a fascinating discussion.
I'm glad it's included if only in a goofy way.

There's no debate, its covered under the constitution. I'm wondering why this is covered, and yet the question dosen't touch on Quebec Hydro, the Diamond Mines going up in Ontario, or any other resource revenue in any other province. Fair is fair.

Don't know how you manage to see this in everything. Yes, the questions are loaded and stupid, but they're not an "Eastern Liberal" attack on the West. They're stupid from all views.
Self inflicted Western Alienation seems to be quite the comfort zone for some. Even when it's not there, you somehow tie it in.

Even if it is not there??
Asking Easterners how Alberta should spend its money does not imply some sort of Western alienation?? that is a perfect example of why we feel alienated. Why should people in Ontario have any opinion or say in how we spend our money?

The second question is the worst, imo. Alberta's wealth does not represent a threat to Canada's federal system (read: confederation), the actions of the Federal government with respect to Alberta's wealth creates the threat.
Respect our constitutional rights, and there is no threat.
But, as several have already mentioned, the questions are designed to make Alberta into the enemy.
And some people wonder why I could care less if we remain a part of Canada or not.

Combine Ipsos-Reid + CBC + Federal Election = Alberta is an easy whipping boy to inadvertantly paint the PC as some radical Christian party.
Of course its a joke, and of course there is no Question about Quebec Hydro (wouldnt dare want to offend anyone from that province else they might want to separate - what a way to view things - dont rock the boat cause if you do you might actually get something done).
Do what I do whenever those idiots call, put them on hold and see how long they wait (I do the same with salesman that get my number at work).
Its generally older people, pinkos, or people that want to skew results that answer those.
