I would only like Love to be the coach if the Flames get someone from way outside the organization in the GM.
a Combo of Conroy and Love is wayyyy to close to home.

Jared Bednar had plenty of detractors after that horrible first year with the Avalanche. I would preach patience even if his first year isn't what we expect. If we hire him as Flames coach, that is.

I might be wrong about this, but you cannot restrict contact if it's regarding a higher position. Someone in the know please correct me if I'm wrong.

How do you reconcile promoting Love with hiring a new GM and giving that GM any autonomy?

When is he (love) under contract until?
It might become a Love/hate relationship.
Love looks like he should be in an alternative band like Primus or System of a Down.

Yeah, until a GM is hired, Flames are stuck. But if it's Conroy or moreso Pascall, he might go ahead and hire Love asap.

At the same time, Love is still under contract (and still coaching), so the Flames just need to say “we want to interview you first” and try and hire (if they choose) before granting access for other teams.

And if it's a rocky start does he get the Geoff Ward treatment?
I do think Love is different and a better prospective NHL bench boss. Ideally for me it's a qualified outsider for GM and a promotion for Love. Like with Phillips, I don't think a guy can do much more to get a shot with the parent team.
Speaking of Phillips, hopefully he forgives the organization of Sutter's poor treatment during his abbreviated call up and extends for at least one year to get a proper look with his home town team.

You draft players to grow them in your system so they are ready for the NHL.
They've done the same with Conroy/Love.
They've groomed them long enough to where other teams are starting to see their value.
It's time to move them up to the show.

Having Conroy as GM and Pascal as Associate GM would give the Flames a solid chance in keeping Love in the organization. I would think Love would prefer to move up and work with players he's familiar with? Watch the Flames pass over all the internal guys and the organization completely roll over.
