Default Huberdeau Interview

Didn't know which thread this would go in so I just made a new one since he's going to be one of the most important pkayers for us.

https://twitter.com/user/status/1686038194817748992

Some interesting things obviously about the offence but fixing our defensive systems seems to be a theme that's been talked a lot by everyone.

Vets seems to want young players in the lineup.

Sounds like a guy who more comfortable this season and a better environment should pay dividends.

I'm super stoked for Huberdeau, I think he's a terrific player and looking forward to seeing him get back on track!

Easily the most important player this season, with that contract kicking in. If he returns to form, there's reason for optimism. If he sucks again, well, there's no excuses this year and we're in for a long decade of Flames hockey...

He really doesn't which is confusing when people attack him for being a cry baby he never once whined in the media.

Sounds like someone who wants to be the face of the franchise and a star.

I agree that Huberdeau says all the right things in the media, and seems like a likeable person/personality. He never whined to the media, and his agent did. I doubt it happened without his knowledge, because Huberdeau could always get a new agent. It was actually really interesting hearing Regehr's and Warner's take on it.

That said, I liked his GAF meter on the ice even when he was struggling. He looked like he was trying to at least be physical, do something, and contribute somehow despite losing his swagger. His relationship with Pelts, and the other young guys was also a bright spot. I really hope he gets that swagger back, and he is at least a PPG player next season.

Factor the above in with his stats, and yeah speaks to how much he cares to contribute to this team. He was one of our best players down the stretch and no doubt he will be better this year if given the right opportunities to do so.

He was clearly being asked to play a style of game that was outside of his comfort zone and skill set by Sutter. IMO he definitely showed effort and never complained. He's clearly not going to excel at a North/South game with lots of board work and perimeter play. That's just not him.

I'm excited to see what Huberdeau can do when a coach lets him play his own game. I'm 100% willing to write off Huberdeau's last season as due to bad coaching match.

Give us Nylander to play with him and Lindholm, somehow and this team will have just as good of a shot at making waves as anyone!

Sounds like a guy who is ready to prove he deserves the contract and expectations that come along with it.

I agree with you except that WRT the bolded, it's just not very easy for a guy who has limited education and is still in his 20s to take charge like that. Agents wield an inordinate amount of influence and I'd take Huberdeau at his word that he was unaware of what he was doing - what he doesn't say is the agent then likely convinced him it was all good.

As disappointing as last season was, it's water under the bridge now. I am hoping he can redeem himself. I would love to see what he can do with Sharangovich or Coronato opposite of him, along with the new strategies that Huska and Savard will implement.

If there is one thing Huberdeau does just as well as Tkachuk it is his ability to talk. I don’t mean that as a slight either but I have always found Huberdeau polished and very good at saying the right things in interviews.

Many signs point to a significant bounce back for Huby next year. The shock of the trade has long since passed, the contract kicking in now was signed a year ago, new coach and style of play on the way. The team is committed to trying to make this thing work so all signs point to Huberdeau being in a spot where he can maximize his abilities.

He will be motivated with a chip on his shoulder after what Tkachuk and the Panthers did in the playoffs. Huberdeau will be hungry to lead a team in a race for the division

Those are the people who can’t grasp it’s quite possible that an agent could tweet without their client knowing or approving it ahead of time.

I mean, this time last year he was telling everyone that Lindholm was gonna get 50 playing with him. I thought that was pretty awesome, until about a month into the season.

I'm pulling for the guy to bounce back tho. Selfishly and selflessly.

The same agent who has a history of this type of behaviour?

Should he pay for the actions of everyone?

The entire team, staff and media acknowledged it was not a fun place to be.

Heck watching on TV you could tell it was not a fun environment.

I'm all for CP chaos so I'm pumped for 2G 2A in Game 1 only to go 0G 4A in his next 10.
