Default WoS debate thread

Here you go.

Keep the debating here and feel free to go ham.

I'm open to challenges and suggestions, but only if they're coming from a non-personal place.

Keep it in the PGT of wins, NSFW tags if people can't handle it
Most of the people crying about it only go in PGT after losses anyway

Great service and hilarious, over time it should weed out the posters who are just trying to get a rise in their orange and blue sweatpants

I would be thrilled to be on it considering it most likely means an epic comeback win

Love the idea. Glad you're taking the time to do it and hoping it results in more reasonable posts in the GT's going forward. If it makes the usual people pause for a minute after drafting an emotional, over the top post, and then not posting it, the wall of shame has done its job.

What happens in the GT stays in the GT. Then we can all be friends in the PGT. jk
I actually found the WOS pretty funny and assumed the sarcasm or jinx posts as just that.
Big difference when you're at the game and you see it happening but you want to stay positive. Watching from is so different.

Came in to debate the World of Sauce. Found out in post three that it's something different.

WoS is great.

I would just keep it to playoff wins, not regular season.

I'm contemplating this.

POs are also when emotions are highest, which makes it great for a WoS. The content may not always be there for a lot of regular season games.

I think it's a great way to hold folks accountable for the irrational negative takes and also have a collective laugh at ourselves as a traumatized, bipolar fan base.

If those featured are real fans, they should be thankful to be eating that crow since this is probably a "post-win only" scenario?

Dont mind it, but the phrase quality over quantity comes to mind.

Was expecting some more bad/awful/laughable takes and less general commentary of the game.

Love it so far. Perhaps limit it to the clearly over-the-top hysterics, and not the player x made a bad play (as that can be fair comment).

Hopefully the post becomes shorter and shorter. I may even participate in the Game thread again.

I don't read the Game Threads for the most part. I mean, I will go in if we're winning handily because it's fun. But a tie game or game we're losing? No way. Too many high emotions. People arguing. I get that some people like to argue but I get stressed out. The world is stressful enough without having to sit in the middle of people fighting over hockey.

If we win the game, I go to the PGTs, because it's super fun. Gifs, people excited. Love it. Sometime the arguments from the Game Threads spill over into the PGTs but usually only later on after the excitement has died down and the night owls need some action.

Now, with the WoS, we basically get all of the negativity and arguing pulled into PGTs.

There is enough arguing in the world. There is enough stressful, un-fun, headache-inducing conflict and fighting in the world.

Why are we going out of our way to provoke and incite more of it?

Keep it focused on over-the-top hot takes and I'm in favour. If it includes every vaguely-negative post, then get rid of it.

Posts like this shouldn't be anywhere near it IMO:

The idea is to make light of it.

And in the process just maybe make future GTs less toxic as posters will knowingly be aware that they will be held accountable for going way over the edge or going out of their way to troll AND incite misery in GTs (which some have been known to do).

Maybe do the homerisitic posts too and provide some balance. It's just as obnoxious and annoying to read posts about "player X must be injured" when they are just having a brutal game, or my personal favorite, when the team is getting its head caved in "we're actually winning the advanced stats battle". Just because you make an accurate statement about the ebb and flow of the game at the time means you should be ridiculed for it, especially when a completely different team comes out in the third period and plays like was suggested. If you want to follow through on your judgmental passive aggressive ######baggery, apply it to all aspects of the fanbase and all behaviors when they are going against the norm.

I've stayed out of the debate because I have mixed feelings

On one hand
- There is already a lot of constant arguing on the board about negative posts. I saw this as a light-hearted way to poke fun at it.
- To some degree I think the constantly hyperbolic negative posts SHOULD be called out. Yes there is enough division in the world, but you know what else there is? Enough negativity. Sports is supposed to be fun. But there is a small subset of posters that only seem to post when things are going wrong and seem intent to drag others into their negative space. I don't get that and frankly I'm don't think we need to go out of our way to protect people like that. They are the exceptions. If they want to be THAT negative they can deal with the consequences of taking that approach. Being that way IS a choice they are making.

On the other hand
- Some people clearly did not take it as a light hearted attempt to have fun with it. And I don't know that more division on the board is helpful
- i agree with others who have said valid negative insights shouldn't be part of this. it should be to highlight hyperbolic or poorly informed negativity

So what should we do? Beats me.

I stopped participating in gdt for a long time because they've become a sounding board for half cut old men to scream into the void about every tiny thing that displeases them for 3 hours straight

If this reigns that in and forces these people to think a little before hitting post quick reply out of fear of being ridiculed then please post it inas many places as possible

It's an idea, but if grown adults can't handle the word "shame" and need it censored for something innocent like "giggles" then I think they're beyond help.

The shame bell gif really makes it I think, too.

Exactly! I already get enough of that at family events, I don't need it in my GDT's as well.
