Alexisonfire
Anyone else loving the Alexisonfire album "watch out"? I know it's not a new album or anything.... just one of my favorite albums....

It's Alexis on fire..
Watch Out! is pretty good. Nothing really fantastic about it but I enjoy it.

I would love this band if not for the ****ty singer. That screaming ruins every song. It's too bad because the music is more or less outstanding. It seems like he's the little brother who just HAS to be in the band, so the older guys just give him a microphone to scream nonsense into whenever he pleases.
Hell, the guitarist is a decent singer when he's singing! Ditch the loser lead singer and I'll buy all their CDs from here on.
Just my opinion.

You have to be into the screaming to like it I guess.. I actually really like the tandem those two guys do, but I like some degree of scream in that style of music.

I'm with Rockstar.
I like hard music -- Nine Inch Nails, Marilyn Manson, Rammstein, old Ministry, etc., but I can't stand Alexisonfire.
There's good, artistic screaming and then there's screeching to music.
Of course, to be honest, more and more as I approach 30 I find myself going "Kids these days ", so I may be out of touch with what constitutes the bees knees in 2005.

Alexisonfire drive me nuts. Musically I like them, but I can't stand the singer. I like screaming in some music, for me there has to be a good singer in the band somewhere as well usually singing the chorus... However I think the guy from Alexisonfire is a terrible screamer. Go listen to a band like Death by Stereo or Killswitch engage. They are both a little heavier, but the singer can actually scream, and they can both sing. Death by Stereo's new album death for life is awesome (some good songs are entombed we collide and I give my life). Killswitch engage's newest album is also very good (look for a song called rose of sharyn).
Lately I've been listening to calmer stuff. Fans of bands like the pogues should check out the Filthy Thieving *******s. Their new album is pretty damn good and features a guest appearance by spider from the pogues. The FTBs are actually a punk band called the Swingin Utters, just unplugged, more folky, and with more instruments.

Watch Out! is an outstanding album, and one alll hardcore fans should check out. Honestly, I HATED Alexisonfire when I first heard them, but I developed a tolerance for their music. Soon I really began enjoying them, and now I pump up their songs in my car when I'm driving, it's great....
For those of you who don't like George's 'screeching', he has branched off into a newer project, which is anything but Alexisonfire. It's kinda like a laid-back Audioslave sound, and CJAY plays his new single late nights. The band is called "____ Grace" I think, and the song has the word "Lights" in the title - sorry, I was half asleep when I heard it but it was really good. Even the DJ thought it was amazing of how much different it sounds from Alexisonfire.

Too much screaming for me too. I like bands that compliment their singing with screaming (Thursday, Refused) but Alexisonfire compliments screaming with singing and they have crossed the fine line for me.

You guys would love IN FLAMES. They're some band from europe (english speaking, but from like Norway or something).
Melodic metal. Super good rythem and grooves. But, the singer is death metal, but not all the time. If you have a chance, check em out. I just got the new one, haven't heard it all yet. But check out some of the older stuff.

I thought it was the Dallas guy that branched off? The one that's not the screamer.
Anyway, he's got 2 things on the go....
One is called "City & Colour"
http://www.myspace.com/dallasgreen
can't stand Alexis but I think this is good.
The other thing was Never Ending White Lights, and a song called "full of grace"...I think? Think he was just a guest vocalist on that song though.
Speaking of Canadian singers I watched Brian Byrne tonight. Used to sing in I Mother Earth. Was never a fan of his work, but he was pretty damn good tonight. He's actually pretty talented.
