The Edmonton Oilers defenseman was disciplined for head-butting Los Angeles Kings center Phillip Danault in Game 5 of the Western Conference First Round at Rogers Place on Tuesday.
I appreciate that people might find that a one-game suspension isn't sufficient in these circumstances, but what a terrible mistake by Nurse to put his team in this situation in an elimination game.

He played about 26 minutes last night including 0 in the OT. That’s almost half the game.
He isn’t a number one D, probably not even a great number two, but he is the best the Oilers have sad as that is. Does Sir- locks-a-lot draw in? Do they call up a Broberg? Both?
Hope the Kings can finish the job in LA on Thursday.
super light. Expected them to at least suspend him for the rest of the series (and well, they probably did), but even then, banning him for a potential game 7 as well would have still been pretty lenient. Should have been 3 games IMO.
Honestly, I was expecting a fine but it seemed to pick up steam today in the media. Taking a 20+ minute d-man from the weakest blue line in the playoffs for a game they could be elimintated. I'm okay with that. The excuse writes itself for the Oilers to lay an egg in LA.

this shouldn't factor at all, neither has anything to do with player safety...
as for the excuse, I'm sure they will use it but LA is missing Doughty the whole series
