Makar might be generational. He'll win several of these in his career.

The voters might choose to reward a veteran one more time before they start voting for Makar regularly.

Weegar was 27th in D scoring, and I can't see a case for him over a half dozen other D. Heck, Ekblad has better counting stats and pretty much the same +/-. Rasmus has more points and good defensive stats.

Weegar's at the top of pretty much every fancy stat there is. He might not have the points, but the +40 tells you something.

Ekblad missed 21 games, yet the Panthers remained dominant with Weegar as their #1.
