Default Final NHL Power Ranking says Flames are best Canadian Cup bet

TSN just put out their final power rankings. They are indicating that the Flames are the best Canadian bet to win the cup.

Quote:
According to our model, the Calgary Flames will be the best bet for a Canadian team to win the Stanley Cup for the first time since 1993.

The Flames are one of only two teams in the NHL to rank in the top three in goal differential and expected goal differential. The other is the top-ranked Florida Panthers.

I just can't let this hype get to my head. I've been hurt before.

I have been trying to temper expectations due to history of the team but I can’t help but be extremely excited about the potential. 04 is when I officially entered hardcore fan status of this team and can say without a shadow of a doubt this is the best roster top to bottom this team has had in the last 25 years at least.

2 top 10 point scorers
4 35+ goal scorers
3 strong defense pairings
Elite goaltending
Depth throughout the lineup
Multiple guys who have won cups on the roster
Best line in hockey
Hall of fame coach who is as motivated as anyone to take care of unfinished business

This could definitely be our year.

LeBrun’s new Athletic article asked 8 rival executives the same question and the Flames were 8 for 8 as the best Canadian chance. No pressure though!

Best odds at the cup as well. Which is crazy to me. I have no idea how moneypuck is coming up with odds, but I suspect whatever road an eastern team takes has to factor into it.

I hate each and every writer or bookie overhyping us. Memories from 2019 games 2 and 5 still haunt my dreams

Ya those odds are whack. Toronto above FLA and Wild also above Florida? Even with their projected 1st round matchups considered its nonsense

One of the finest teams ever assembled.

It's not a question of when, but how many.

They must have not factored in that every time the Oilers lost, it wasn't their fault.

The Avs look to be doing a pretty good impersonation of the 2019 Flames limping into the playoffs.

Can't wait to see all the Zadarov smirking memes when he is smoking Kadri behind our net.

TSN power rankings are a joke even when they like the Flames.

I'm putting $100 against the Flames in the first round. Either I get hurt again but with some extra cash to dull the pain, or I lose a hundred bucks to watch the Flames win their first playoff series with home ice advantage in over 30 years, which is money well spent IMO. Bonus of the Flames being so hyped is that I should be getting pretty good odds on the bet

I did that in the Superbowl thinking the same, and lord it just made the game excruciating both ways and I left underwhelmed and unsatisfied despite having made a few hundred on LA.

They can lean any which way but no one really knows how all these teams will translate to the post season.

Even as an avid Flames fan this has to be said.

There are a lot of factors, including players abilities to elevate and perform in high pressure situations.

Based on what we know though, which is this regular season? The Flames style of play appears to be one of the two or three most playoff-translatable in the league.

And within the scope of Canada, the Leafs are still showing that their goaltending can be their downfall against tough opponents and the Oilers still have the weakest goalie tandem of any playoff team and are lacking on the back end (more so without Nurse). Those issues haven't changed, while the Flames have improved in multiple areas and upgraded its coaching in a big way. While Toronto and Edmonton have the better forward crops, the Flames are undeniably the most well-balanced team of the three, without the weaknesses of the other two.

In the end it means nothing because it's about how you play when the clock starts on the playoffs, but based on what we can look at, its an accurate assessment.

I noticed lots of flags out there since the division-clincher.

People are taking note and casuals look to be dusting off their merch and swag.
