I like this. Even if he doesn't get a game in, he gets to be part of the atmosphere around a team that clinched the playoffs and division title and is preparing for the playoffs.

Likely rationale:

Quote:
Btw — Heat are all but guaranteed to lock up the No. 1 spot in the AHL Pacific Division, which means they'll get a bye to the second round of the playoffs. They need just one more point in their last three games to lock it up, and that's only if Ontario wins out.

Heat are gonna be off for a while — probably until the middle of May. Wolf coming up makes a ton of sense in that regard ... get some reps in practice, get a raise as a reward for an outstanding season, hang out with Markstrom/Vladar, get to know Darryl/the coaching staff, maybe make his NHL debut.

It's funny you say that, because I believe Stockton is 1 point away from clinching the division as well, and they're preparing for playoffs. I agree though I hope Wolf enjoys his stay at the NHL and the extra bonus in salary.

I think it's just the 'NHL' experience for me. He's been a part of Stockton and has experienced that run, and will get to experience the playoffs too with them no doubt. This is a nice reward and an opportunity to see what it's like to have the same situation but in the big leagues and get some time with the 'big boys'.

Assume this means Chechelev gets to try to close out the season? Or Wolf goes back to get warmed up for the playoffs?

Good for him, cant see him getting a start unless Vladar is injured though. Its All business right now.

I think he might play against the Jets. He deserves to be rewarded for the season he's having.

Ideally he will be the backup for the remainder of the season so that neither Markstrom nor Vladar needs to come in cold and risk injury. Maybe give him one start with Vladar backing up.

Good to see Wolf get the callup and a nice raise for the summer. Well deserved. Hopefully will get to see him get a game.

Emergency recall to give Markstrom a rest. Likely back to STK quite soon.

First round bye will be from a best-of-three series, so Heat probably get first week of May off, that's about it. And Flames will be in playoffs at that point and likely won't have desire to have extra bodies around.

I agree. I think Wolf is backup goalie. Probably not for the remainder of the season, likely for the game(s) that Vladar starts.

Great to see, Wolf has earned it. I think it's about:

1) rewarding him, now that the Flames and Heat have taken care of business
2) giving him a chance to be with the team and see how Markstrom and Vladar prepare
3) be the backup for a game so that Markstrom can go several days without having to go through the game routine

Doubt very much he starts, but backing up Vladar for a game makes total sense all around.

The kid is awesome and has had another fantastic season. Here's hoping he runs the table in the playoffs with the Heat!

Would of rather waited until the Heat clinched the Division for him to have been recalled. Probably would of happened last night. (If he played, Heat lost 5-4 in OT)
Still excited for him to be up with the Flames.

Wolf will be wearing #32, following in the footsteps of illustrious Flames alumni such as Rick Lessard, Niklas Backstrom and Jon Gillies.
