Well colour me happy! Read it wrong!
I'll adjust that and the points spread to Edmonton

Anyone know why Dube gave Toffoli the empty netter? Did he have any bonuses or otherwise tied to hitting 20?
I get it was an unselfish play, but with the Kraken D pressing it seemed kinda boneheaded not to take the sure goal.

Flames gave up only 17 ES shots on goal.
That kind of performance is what wins playoff games.

There are no performance bonuses for standard contracts.

Makes it even dumber of a play by Dube.
Went and rewatched the replay - he was free and clear and by the time Toffoli got it, there was a Kraken D there trying to break up the pass and then the shot. He's just lucky it worked out, because that was a bad hockey play for the team.

All your complaining about this has prompted me now also to go back and watch the last play, and I don't think the defenseman was all that close. It looks closer than it is because of the camera angle, but the puck is still far enough ahead that he isn't catching it.
This is a nothing-burger.

The pass to another guy on the empty net is like an unwritten rule among players, especially with a multiple goal lead. If it's a 2-1 game, I expect that Dube would have put that in the net much quicker to seal the game. With a 2 goal lead, he took his time until Taffoli was able to catch up and moved the puck over to him.
If Sutter says anything to him it will be that in a playoff situation you need to get that puck in the net.
I will say that the Flames have been far better at that this year than last year. They often didn't get the EN goal due to farting around with the puck. I don't remember it costing them any games per se, but I do see them finishing a lot more of these this year. They might be pretty close to a franchise high for empty netters. Which is a good thing because it means you had a lot of leads late in games, and you closed them out.

I think they prefer him in ... can't think of a reason why they'd keep him out.
Guessing there's a minor injury that they're hiding with his illness.

Attended this game live. The arena is weird in that it’s not as fancy as you would think for a new venue but the game experience is top notch as the windows on the one end really brighten it up inside. You can’t tell from the TV cameras how bright and airy it is inside.

This was a scoche harder to find, its not on https://records.nhl.com/ but you can find it on nhl.com's stats page
ANYWAY, franchise record is 20 empty net goals from 2018-19 season. This season its 17 EN goals so far
