Game Night: Flames at Ducks

WHY WATCH?

GOODBYE GETZ

Ducks captain Ryan Getzlaf has announced that he’ll retire after this season, leaving a few last opportunities for the crowd at Honda Center to show their appreciation. Getzlaf, whose climb to primetime included a standout junior stint with the Calgary Hitmen, will hang ’em up as Anaheim’s all-time leading scorer.

POINTS LEADERS

FLAMES

Johnny Gaudreau — 69 GP, 34 G, 61 A, 95 PTS, +50
Matthew Tkachuk — 69 GP, 32 G, 53 A, 85 PTS, +42
Elias Lindholm — 69 GP, 35 G, 35 A, 70 PTS, +47

DUCKS

Troy Terry — 64 GP, 31 G, 26 A, 57 PTS, -5
Trevor Zegras — 64 GP, 17 G, 33 A, 50 PTS, -21
Cam Fowler — 67 GP, 8 G, 28 A, 36 PTS, -9

SPECIAL TEAMS

FLAMES: PP — 23.6% (9th); PK — 83.4% (6th)
DUCKS: PP — 21.9% (14th); PK — 80.4% (14th)

The Ducks are playing out the string, destined to miss the playoffs for a fourth consecutive campaign. They have managed just one win in the span of almost a month, with a 1-9-3 record during that stinky stretch.

Preview
Calgary at Anaheim

The first quest for the Calgary Flames was to snap their losing skid. That mission was accomplished with Monday's 3-2 win over the surprising Los Angeles Kings.

Next up for the Pacific Division-leading Flames (41-19-9, 91 points) is to take advantage of a favorable schedule, with their four-game trip heading down the road to face the struggling Anaheim Ducks (28-31-8, 68 points) on Wednesday.

The trip, which includes stops against the San Jose Sharks and expansion Seattle Kraken -- the two clubs below the Ducks -- is an opportunity for the Flames to strengthen their hold on the division lead. Both the Kings and Edmonton Oilers are hot on their heels.

"We have a big road trip here and didn't play too, too well toward the end of our home stand," said forward Johnny Gaudreau, who scored twice in the Los Angeles victory. "To get on the road here -- it feels like it's been a while since we've been on a road trip -- it's kind of nice. You get to have ... a road-trip mentality. We started off with a big win and have another big one coming up against Anaheim."

Can't keep losing to teams we shouldn't if we wanna win the Pacific, so its a big game - gotta put a string together here to fend off the stupid, ugly moutherbreathers that some call the 'Oilers'

This is a game the team needs to win. Not because anything major is on the line but more that this team needs to take care of business within the division especially against the bottom teams.

Let’s go boys! Let’s keep the winning ways going in SoCal

We need this win, since we play Sharks on a back to back tomorrow.

I just think they need a good trip ... doesn't matter where the wins come but 2-1-1 or 3-1-0.

Glad they're 1-0-0 to start.

I hope to see some depth scoring and activated D so we aren’t relying completely on the top line going into the playoffs.

Go Flames!

Need the win here so hoping they can deliver. Far less confident about tomorrows game with how the Sharks have owned us this year.

Get the win tonight! Vladar should start tonight and Saturday

We need to out-skill their skill guys. And then punch them in the head for trying to out-skill us.

Flames win 3-1. Tkachuk with the hatty, all scored on lacrosse style goals.

GFG!

Am I the only one that wants Vladar to start vs SJ?

It seems Marky struggles vs the Sharks (rec 3-8-1 , 3.26gaa, .897sv%)

Edit: just checked Vladar's 1 game vs SJ...not better LOL

Whatever, tonight go with whatever goalie is better at saving a michigan?
