INJURIES:

Avalanche: Bowen Byram: out (personal), Gabriel Landeskog: out (knee), Samuel Girard: out (lower body).

Flames: Oliver Kylington: day to day (lower body).

GAME NIGHT: Flames at Avalanche

WHY WATCH?

BACK FOR MORE

The Flames wrap up a five-games-in-seven-nights stretch and a six-games-in-nine-nights stretch. And if you’re experiencing deja vu, you’re not alone. Calgary started this gruelling schedule in Colorado on March 5 with a 4-3 overtime win.

POINTS LEADERS

FLAMES

Johnny Gaudreau — 58 GP, 26 G, 52 A, 78 PTS, +44

Matthew Tkachuk — 58 GP, 27 G, 41 A, 68 PTS, +36

Elias Lindholm — 58 GP, 30 G, 32 A, 62 PTS, +45

AVALANCHE

Nazem Kadri — 56 GP, 22 G, 50 A, 72 PTS, +19

Mikko Rantanen — 56 GP, 27 G, 40 A, 67 PTS, +30

Cale Makar — 55 GP, 21 G, 44 A, 65 PTS, +35

SPECIAL TEAMS

FLAMES: PP — 23.8% (11th); PK — 85.5% (3rd)

AVALANCHE: PP — 23.1% (12th); PK — 76.9% (21st)

The Avs are on a mini two-game losing streak and, likely, are thrilled to be returning to their home ice where they have a Western Conference-best 23-3-3 record.
Avalanche to host Gaudreau and the Flames

BOTTOM LINE: Johnny Gaudreau leads Calgary into a matchup with Colorado. He’s fourth in the NHL with 78 points, scoring 26 goals and totaling 52 assists.
The Avalanche are 24-6-3 in Western Conference games. Colorado leads the Western Conference with 48 power-play goals, led by Mikko Rantanen with 12.

Avs have lost a few games in a row and will be rested and hungry to beat the Flames who are finishing 3 in 4 and 5 in 7. No Landeskog for the Avs is a pretty big loss

This one has the feel of scheduled loss but you never know with this Flames team

Light work for Markstrom last night. Wonder if that factors into the goaltending decision.

We’re playing the top team in the league. On the road. Second game of a back-to-back. Fifth game in seven days. At altitude.

Men, we’ve got them right where we want ‘em.

GFG.

My mom's 75th birthday today. Celebrating together in Mexico so a barn burner game with flames on top 7-5.

I would start Vladar just to piss Avs off even more if we win.

Avs won’t get the chance to see Marky until playoffs

With the back-to-back, the travel, and the earlier start time, I'm not expecting much from this game. A win tonight would be gravy.
