Hard not to see this as Bergeron saying "it's him or me" wrt Cassidy.

I wonder if this affects the Pastrnak situation.

Well, that pretty much rules out the Bruins making an offer to Johnny.

Assuming Bergeron signs for $9M, they have to trade Pasta just to get to the cap ceiling. They're already at an $80M cap hit without whatever Bergeron signs for. Where are they going to find another $10M?

I doubt he’s signing for that much. Dude is 36. He does qualify for a bonus laden contract and I forget how those figure into the cap.

Marchand is out until Decemeber so they will have some LTIR room.

Still nearly a PPG player on what was considered the best two-way line in the league, a right-shooting centre, and the captain of the team. Sure, he’ll probably sign a short-term contract, but how much less do you think he will take?

I think it’s probably a one year $7M deal. And he was a .89 PPG player, which is part of a steady decline from 2018-19. He would be hard pressed to argue for a raise. Plus they have cap issues. And they know he’s not going anywhere else.

Bergeron will sign a lower salary but incentive laden deal IMO.

Probably totalling 6M or so if he stays healthy and plays 75 games and a bit more if he hits certain offensive totals.

Bergeron at $7 million at today’s cap might give some idea of how Gaudreau’s camp might value an 8th year.
