Default Remembering John Lennon...

Shot and Killed 25 years ago today. Any special thoughts or memories of this great singer songwriter?

I was listening to the Flames (they were on QR at the time, and Bart Dailey was the PBP guy) play LA, I think, or possibly Vancouver. It was a late game at any rate. I was doing homework, and the hair on the back of my neck still stands up when I recall a news announcer simply state between periods: "John Lennon is dead."

I was alone in an apartment in Peace River and listening to the radio with the lights out . . . . the news came on.

Last year, we were in New York and saw the doorwell he was shot in as well as his memorial in Central Park.

Well done, they don't advertise the Dakota or especially the spot he was killed in any tourist information so you have to know where to go to see that. The doorman pointed it out to me, but he wouldn't point out which apartment was John & Yoko's.

Anyway, there is a new 2-disc greatest hits of his solo work out called 'Working Class Hero' which is really great. A lot of great songs on there.

It's a shame he isn't still around, making great insightful music still.

I was coming home from Hockey at Fairview arena and heard it on the radio.

When I got home I remember Monday Night Football was on. I turned on CKXL and they were playing John Lennon and the Beatles all night.

When ever I hear the song "Just like starting over", I remember that day.

I also remember the first time I heard about John Belushi, This time I was going to a minor hockey game. We were driving along Macleod Trail going North past Chinook.

It's funny I don't remember who I was being carpooled with on those nights. Yet I remember the events.

I love Lennon, but for the life of me cannot remember where I was or what I was thinking the day it happened. My uncle cried like a baby, a huge fan.

I can't believe Yoko still lives in the Dakota to this day.

McCartney had a nice tribute to John, George and wife Linda at his concert I attended last month. He still very much misses his old friend, they were just starting to talk to each other again just before he was killed.

I did the exact same thing back in August.

I'm a bit to young to remember when he was shot (wasn't even alive at the time) but still appreciate one of the greatest musicians of all time. One of my favourites.
