Default Tukka Rask expected to retire in the next few days

Quote:
The Bruins are not expecting Tuukka Rask to continue his comeback, according to two sources familiar with the situation. Rask last played on Jan. 24 against Anaheim, when he allowed five goals on 27 shots. He reported discomfort related to his hip surgery following the game. He is currently on injured reserve.

Rask is discussing his future with his family, according to both sources. He may finalize his retirement decision in the next few days.

“I give him all the credit in the world,” said one of the sources. “He did everything right. He just didn’t feel as good as he thought he would.”

Tukka Rask was probably one of the most consistent goalies on a season to season basis that the NHL has ever seen.

Retires with the 3rd highest save percentage of all time.

He didn't win as many Vezinas as guys like Bobrovsky or Price, but that's because he was so consistent. Hardly had up and down seasons.

End of an era with guys like Rask, Rinne, Lunqvist, Luongo, Miller (Fleury prob. end of season) all gone.

as with Bishop, kudos for giving it another shot. No shame in realizing that injuries have just taken too much of a toll.

hell of a career. Consistently one of the best goaltenders in the league for a long time.

Thins the goalie market even more for the oilers as some speculated the bruins would consider moving one of their goalies if Rask stuck as the starter.

Great career for Rask, if he does end up retiring. I’m sure that the Bruins are glad they didn’t make any impulsive trades to get rid of their excess goalie.

I'm glad we got Vladar, but if we hadn't, there's a good chance Seattle would have taken him, and they traded him anticipating this.

Swayman is their future, they had no need for Vladar. They also signed Ullmark knowing this was likely.

The return they got was a joke though.

His return kinda reminded me of Jagr’s attempt here. The head was there, but not the bod.

He looked great in his first game IIRC. I was thinking about him in my pool, but I held off.

Price probably done too. Doubt he will play this season and the Habs are a dumpster fire.

Yeah, he was part of that Cohort of Finnish goaltenders that came in just a bit after Kiprusoff. It seems like Finland has got away from the heavy focus on Goaltending in favor of trying to develop forwards. Used to be that Finland had 4-5 guys you would consider for their Olympic team. Outside of Saros, there are not a lot of high end Finnish starters anymore.

Good career, I imagine the Bruins look at the trade of him for R8crfot as one of their better moves.

I will never forget the Leafs trading him for Raycroft. What a twist that was.

Sucks for the Oilers. They were about to get Swayman for a mid-rounder apparently.

The Vladar trade happened a week after the expansion draft. Seattle had already passed on him.

It was reported that the Bruins were looking at him as #3 on the depth chart and afraid they'd lose him on waivers. So, similar reason, different occasion.

Oilers ready to grab Rask on waivers.

Before you laugh, he’s an upgrade!

Even on LTIR.

He could pull a Mike Green and play two games and call it a career.
