He was the interim head coach last year, when Julien was let go. He got named the permanent head coach, just last summer, thanks to their finals appearance.

Why bother? Just ride out the season instead of having to pay another coach.

Wait a sec. Does this mean that in the interim the head coach of the fabled Montreal Canadiens is...Alex Burrows?

Gallant got fired mid way thru his third season. Year after they got the Phantom Major in Game 7 and gave up the 3 PP goals that let San Jose tie the game.

I partially felt bad for Vegas at that time. Today I'd laugh my arse off at that and say screw you guys.

You could add Terry Crisp...he got fired after the 89-90 season.

Michel Therrien was fired in 2009 by Pittsburgh after going to the finals in 2008.

Might be someone in New Jersey too. Lou made some late season changes for new coaches to poke his team for a run than axe them. Larry Robinson lead them to the Finals in 01, got the axe 51 games into the next season.

Seems like a weird decision. Nothing is going to save their season, why not ride out the interim coach for the year and do a good search. They must have someone in mind they don’t want to lose in the off season.

Or else there’s some sort of player revolt or huge GM v coach fight.

I predict Joel Bouchard who was their AHL coach the last few years and left to Anaheim when Ducharme got the position instead of him. He was well respected by the players and could be a good fit for a rebuild.

Kinda surprised Bob hasn't coached the Habs yet.

Seems the only qualification you need is having coaching experience at any level, and speak French.
