Default Carey Price entering player assistance program

From Sportsnet alert. Huge blow to Team Canada. Hope all is okay with him.

This is the same as the substance abuse program? Name was changed to be more politically correct?

That’s too bad. All the best to him. Everyone’s got demons. More people need this kind of help than the general population would realize.

Bigger blow to the Canadiens but yes, hope all will be well.

He seems like such a cerebral and aware guy that one can presume he realized something wasn't OK within and decided to get it addressed, IE: Its OK not t be OK.

Figured he would be out a while longer due to injury when they picked up Montembeault. Didn't expect this. All the best.

Substance abuse and mental health both fall within the purview of this program.

Changed to capture more than substances.

Ah ok. That makes sense. Mental health is very important. Everyone should have a therapist. Just as important as going regularly to a doctor or dentist IMO. Through work, I have had the privilege of working with a therapist and I can tell you my mental health improved drastically. I still go once a month. I actually look forward to it.

Tough news, but at least we are getting to the point where if someone needs help, they can get the support they need.

It's hard as hell reaching out as a private citizen with no public profile for help on mental help or substance abuse. To seek help as a world famous, top tier NHL goalie takes all the courage in the world. Good for him, I hope he gets the help he needs with whatever he's dealing with.

Proud of Carey Price and his family for getting the help and at the same time opening up to the public. All the very best, Carey.

He is a role model to many Canadians. This opens up conversations and hopefully more people who need and want help can feel comfortable and confident in doing so.

Hopefully he comes out like always. Price always seems to come back from a layoff on fire. This probably helps the team as well. I imagine he’s automatically LTIR and they can essentially load manage him for the second half/postseason.

Best of luck to Price. I'm sure it wasn't an easy decision, but I'm glad he reached out for help. This can only be viewed as a good thing, as it should help others who might be on the fence to reach out and help themselves.

Can't wait to see him back.

I'm SO impressed with Price....what he's done in admitting an issue and telling the world hey I need help is huge.
Been there myself and I'll tell ya... admission to knowing is half the battle....good on ya.
This guy had done so so so much for hockey you cannot deny respect.
