Default Stars 4 Flames 3 (OT)

Game Takes: Stars 4 Flames 3 (OT)

- Flames fall in overtime again
- Not the best Markstrom start
- Flames find a point for the second straight game
- Zadorov with a goal and an assist.

you could tell the Flames weren't on their game in the 1st - 5 minutes.

I think that teams are starting to understand the system being employed and countering.
Markstrom wasn't in God mode as well, still inconsistent in that regard. Very very good or very average.

I feel like we caught a lot of teams off guard starting slow, where now teams have their feet underneath them and caught up a bit. It will be interesting to see how the team does through the next ten games.

Hanifin had a rough game for whatever reason.

Still, if they don't let in that horrible goal at the end of the 2nd, they probably win this in regulation.

Should have been the game that Vladar started. Markstrom can only play three good games before he needs a break. One out of every four should be Vladar.

If the team isnt pushing the pace they dont get into the situations where they can get in the slot goal scoring chances. Getting shots but not high value chances. They dont have the depth of talent to waste those chances. They need people to bear down when they have the opportunity.

Almost seems like they read to many press clippings after their road trip about how good they are.

odd, it's half past 10 and the ricardo Game Takes haven't been published yet after a Flames loss.

So you miss me?

Flames are off to a great start and a OT loss is not really a loss.

The only comment, that has to do a bit with what Mr. Mike said:

The Flames have a real quirky schedule.

They have had spectacular results against teams that they play twice a year. 6-0-0 against Eastern teams 0-1-3 against Western team that they play 3 or 4 times a year.

for the rest of November Flames have 9 games against Eastern teams and only 3 against Western team that would be considered 4 pt games.

When you look at the splits

East and West

Johnny Hockey really stands out. Maybe he is auditioning for his next team that wont be in the West. Or the West teams have developed strategies that contain him.

Markstrom was a different vezina winning level on his Eastern road trip but has put himself in a hole for numbers that against teams he has to play more often.

Just a small sample, but maybe a better book on Markstrom in the West.

Solid writeup Bingo.

Definitely agree with the thought that the Flames looked to be out of sorts. Ras in particular, he was just off.

Tkachuk's behavior should pretty much end any hopes he has of being this team's captain. I wouldn't be opposed to him sitting in the press box on Saturday. It's funny how stupid penalties like that end up in the back of the net.

The Zadorov/Gubrandson pairing is really starting to grow on me. It's probably a bit more than you'd want to pay for your bottom pairing, but if they are going to play like that, I'm ok with it.

I think it's more likely that half the players were up until 2 a.m. wondering if they were involved in a trade for Eichel. The Flames were clumsy and slow too react, and to me, they looked sleepy, and in Tkachuk's case, quite grumpy.

If every player that yelled at a ref got benched you and I would be playing as replacements

Tkachuk is one of the best players...putting him in the press box would be beyond stupid. He also came back and scored one.

In today's woke society what could have Tkachuk said that would be so bad as to merit a penalty and it wouldn't be cause for cancellation and the apology circuit.

I think that a ref should never call an unsportsmanlike penalty unless the player attempts to embarrass / intimidate the ref in a manner that the crowd would notice.

Something called off the bench would have to cross the line into the refs safe space or was ignoring a direct warning that the next chirp out of you and I am calling a penalty.

I hope that Tkachuk learned from this episode.

I’m given to understand an accusation of outright bias or corruption, even if in jest, can get you such a penalty. Or, if you keep up the ordinary stuff for too long, including after a warning.

It’s not necessarily consistent or logical, but the lines get put in place over time. Like how you can say a lot to a baseball ump but arguing balls and strikes = ejection.
