Default Calgarypuck Prospect Ranking 2021 - Round 21

Welcome to the annual Calgarypuck Prospect Poll!

As per usual ...

1. Rank the prospects as you like. Upside, chances, or trade value
2. I will try and do one a day which should get us to rookie camp range
3. Graduates and/or runoffs will be determined in each case
4. Please don't complain that the polls are going to deep. We go until all the prospects are ranked, so don't vote if you don't want to.

Kerins for me...

Followed by Whynot, Philip, Big Z, Solovyov, Chechelev - all of whom still have a chance to make the NHL IMO

After that I think we enter another tier where the NHL is unlikely (although I don't know much about the 2021 picks)

I know a few of the names. But at this point I think I’ll default to the randomizer.

If I had a pool of remaining players with some NHL potential it would be:
Solovyov, Kerins, Nikolaev, Yelesin.

and players where it is too soon to tell:
Boltmann, Whynot, Beck, Chechelev, Ciona, Sergeev

The one curious case is Zavgorodniy who had a miserable AHL run last season, but otherwise was a compelling prospect.

Solovyov was 16th in scoring for defensemen in his OHL season. That's taking into account the transition to a new country and smaller ice surface than Belarus. Last season he was a regular KHLer as a 20 year old. Really surprised to see so many people sleeping on this guy in this range. He's someone who may only require 1 season in the AHL before he's knocking at the door. Looking forward to seeing him play for the Heat this year.

I can't speak for everyone, but at this point in the rankings, I don't know a lot about each prospects. I'm probably picking guys from the CHL that have more readily available prospect reports/name familiarity.

A good d man's stats don't always jump off a page. Solovyov was a KHL tweener on a decent Dinamo Minsk team at the age of 20. He played well enough there to gain an ELC. I haven't seen him play, but I followed him and his team a little. The fact he wants to continue development in the AHL is very encouraging.

I don't know much but people say he likes to play mean, and that he likes to contribute offensively. I'm excited for him to play for the heat.

Kerins and Solovyov are both too low on this list, IMO.

Whynot Philp a coin? Who gives a Feuk and doesn't have a Kerins the world?
