He's still fairly productive. Good for the Flyers.
Still hoping the Flames sign someone like Bozak.

Give the Flyers credit, they'll look quite different next season. No idea how that will translate on the ice but they mixed it up.

If Monahan is moved in an Eichel deal, I imagine the Flames would need a veteran centre like Bozak and Brassard to bridge the gap till Eichel is healthy.

Problem with Bozak might be cost. He made $5 last year according to CapFriendly. I did not know this. Even off a PTO what would he likely make? $2.5? Guessing it would be prohibitive here.
I mean, how thrilled would people be if Treliving sunk the majority of the available cap space into the 4C?

I'd rather they just play Gawdin than sign some random vet to anchor the fourth line.

Yep. Him or Ruzicka. Let them battle it out in camp.

I would be shocked if Gawdin and Ruzicka play more than Lewis.

I see Lewis & Ritchie rotating as the 4RW
I don't think Lewis will be a C here but I could be wrong

We just got rid of Ryan and don't need another pricey 4th line center playing out their career here.

825k is a long way from pricey.

I refuse to give credit to a team that traded Ghostisbehere, Hagg, a 1st rounder, two second rounders, and a 7th rounder for pending UFA Rasmus Ristolainen.
And I actually do like the Ellis and Atkinson trade. When you look at the full picture though they bled assets and are arguably a worse team on paper.

They took risks. It could blow up easily. But they didn't sit on their hands. You can hate the moves but I'll give them credit for taking their swings.

I hear you, but I just can’t commend them for taking their biggest swing on a player that has universally been seen as a black hole his entire career.
Sure they went for it, but I think there’s a very high chance it’s blows up on them. Then what? Team is just as bad as it was last year, they are out a bunch of picks and Ristolainen walks as a UFA.

And he's going to sign for 825k why exactly? At 35 coming off a $5M AAV contract I don't see much upside to latch onto the Flames in a 4th line role. Nor do I see the upside for the Flames to be quite honest when they could allow a young player to finally step in and possibly well out perform a similar AAV.

AND if Carter Hart as another abysmal year they are hoping for Martin Jones to carry the load. I don’t even know if that’s an upgrade on Elliott or not.

Like it or not, at least Philly has a fresh mix of pretty decent players and all they're down is a second round pick in this upcoming draft.
I've always admired their franchise for being willing to shake things up when there are glaring issues. Sure they've been up and down lately, but they've also been to a finals and the conference semi-finals a few times in the last decade - a heck of a lot more than our Flames can say under the guidance of BT.

While the Ghost likely stinks and will always stink, I do thin k there is some hope that getting Risto out of Buffalo might help him. But will need to help him hugely for the trades to make sense.
it will be interesting to see what uptick there is in his play.
I would say the same thing about OEL, but he's not likely to get any better where he's headed.

I feel like its simpler for teams like Boston, New York, and Philly to make big swing for the fences moves, or moves to dump star players.
They always get first dibs in free agency so if their gambles don't work out its easier for them to recover.
