Im guessing the deal was closer to Pionk's ask then the Jets offer... Jets probably saw what all the otger D were getting this offseason and wanted no part of arbitration.

This deal should buy 2 UFA years since he turned 26 after July 1st. So it's likely close in AAV to what the Arbitration ask was.
Will need to see the JFresh analytics here, but seems okay as a first impression. My out of touch old world ways tell me that getting him and a first for Trouba with this contract is a huge win when you consider what Trouba has been paid and is still owed.

That Trouba trade turned out surprisingly good for WPG. Pionk’s game did a total 180 on the new team and Heinola is a top prospect

Pionk is pretty great and he can score. Zadorov is a pure shutdown guy with zero offence. Don't see a ton of similarities.

Larsson, Oleksiak or Jake McCabe are better comparables for Zadorov.
I'd guess 4 x $4M AAV

The Jets have quietly had by far the best offseason of any Canadian team. It would have been perfect had they replaced their coach but it seems like Maurice has a job for life there.

No one wants to play in Winnipeg but counter-intuitively it makes the Jets a better team by forcing them to avoid contract extensions and trade declining assets for good returns.
