Guys like Gallant are very important in the AHL as leaders on young teams. They're also critical for protecting prospects — it was eye-opening covering the Heat last year and seeing how many times guys would try to take runs at Phillips, Pospisil, and others.
Gallant was probably one of the best enforcers last year from a hockey perspective, too. Cail MacLean liked him. I expect he'll eventually sign another AHL deal with Stockton.
