Hockey Canada also revealed that Bruce Cassidy of the Boston Bruins, Peter DeBoer of the Vegas Golden Knights and Barry Trotz of the New York Islanders will serve as assistants.

A bunch of Flames staff were named as well, including Kelso as PR guy:

Big congrats to #Flames staff members Sean Kelso, Ian Auld and Kent Kobelka on being named to the support staff for

Let's see what he can do with a team without a salary cap... oh wait...

He's used to coaching a very expensive, 18 million over the salary cap, top heavy, all-star team. This is a good fit.

He has also been coaching three of the best Russians and the best Swede...and a few Americans/Czechs.

Sending most of the top half of their roster will make a three-peat tough for TBL.

Who's the GM?

Seems like a good pick.

I like Cooper - his path to the NHL was pretty interesting, definitely and underdog's tale...

Canada has always been pro China (Under Trudeau), not sure why that would change now

Barry trots should be head coach. What he’s done with a team with so few stars in the last few years is remarkable

2014 was boring enough. No one needs that again.

Yup. Why would we send athletes to a country that is holding other citizens hostage.

Total boycott for many reasons

Michael Spavor just sentenced to 11 years in a Chinese prison on trumped up charges of espionage.

EDIT. It seems there may be the possibility of a deportation order as part of a negotiated settlement between China and the US.

Don't forget about Robert Schellenberg's death sentence being upheld a day earlier. Next up, Michael Kovrig's sentence.

When looking for a coach for Team Canada, I am not sure that 'done a great job with a team with few stars' is at the top of the list of requirements/skills.
