Comparable for the Coleman contract. Nice they kept it a year shorter and slightly less.

Blues were interested in Landeskog, if he hit the market. Saad probably was their backup option. They lost Schwartz to Seattle.

There goes the Tkachuk to St. Louis idea.

Points similar over the last couple years (Saad much more off the bat). Saad is more of a one way player, but lots of speed and I'm always surprised he's as young as he is.

They really need to move Tarasenko. What was it reported yesterday they were willing to retain 2.5m?
Can see why they can't go full retention.

I'm surprised Saad is a 11 months younger than Coleman. Same draft class; Saad 631 gp vs. Coleman 301.
Normally I'm not a fan of 'low mileage' arguments for guys like Ryan (riding the bus in the AHL has gotta be hard on the body/diet), but for an NCAA guy like Coleman it's more fair.

Schwartz, Hoffman, Blais, Bozak and Dunn out
Buchnevich, Saad and Lindgren in
Blues need a middle six center

It was said that Johnny's agent/Flames would be looking at what happens with Landeskog and Saad and others in FA.
So what does this mean for Johnny? Landeskog = 7mx8, Saad = 4.5mx5

I've always liked Saad, but he always seems to leave me wanting more.
Great speed, but his hands aren't that great, so he seems to just miss goals frequently.
I always thought he played a pretty responsible two way game, especially when he was on those great Hawk teams.
I think he fits better when you don't expect him to be a star, so he fits better on a very good team.
This looks like a decent contract.

Derek Ryan? He played in Europe then spent one full season, plus a handful of games the next year in the AHL

Funnily Ryan only played 13 more AHL games than Coleman. Played in Europe for 4 years though.

Oops; right y'all are. The low mileage argument is fair for him.

It's true, there's something in the water. McDavid went in as an 18 year old and now looks like a 35 year old.
