No surprise. Anyone still want this guy on their team? He's falling fast.

Virtual certainty that he will be traded again before the next trade deadline. He reminds me so much of Alexander Semin… all the talent of a superstar without the drive/effort to become one. He can score 30 goals a season in his sleep. If he had the right team and committed himself to it… he could easily score 50 goals in this league. What a waste.

Laine, Dubois, Puljujarvi, Juolevi. That worked out pretty well.

He'll be an RFA again next year with the same $7.5 million QO.

Might not get the QO next time if he continues this downward trend.

I would take him for Monahan.
Hard to ignore that package of skills.
He needs a good coach that can get through to him though.

Laine wants to get to free agency as quick as possible.
He's going to be very motivated this season as he wants a long-term deal with a beach city.

Funny I was just thinking I could see him heading to one of the California teams.
Presume he'll be a trade deadline rental for someone if he's having a decent year.

I wouldn't. Even Monahan was better than Laine last year, and has been multiple years. Say what you will about Monahan, but even he has more value than Laine right now.
Gifted goal scorer, for sure, and worth having on your team, but as a piece. And based on his difficulty playing for coaches that ask any more of him than he feels like giving, I can't imagine Sutter would be the key to making him click.
He's like James Neal in his prime. Nobody is going to talk about him being one of the greats. He needs to go to a place where he can just run and gun and put up 40-30-70 a couple years in a row.

I would simply to trade him again. He has better trade value than Monny right now, as he's at least healthy.

He’ll be highly motivated this season. Probably pot 40. And some desperate team will open the vault for him in a year.

He might have a good fit with a playmaker like voracek. They could both have bounce back seasons.

One would, have thought he would have been motivated this past season - but I guess it did not cost him any money

I feel like he will end up in Chicago for some reason, he needs to have a monster year either way or he will be in an awkward spot come this time next year.

Most people in his position would want longer term. Guess he is banking on a comeback season.

Can he not still choose arbitration if he has a huge year this year?
