Vancouver really setting themselves up for somebody to offer sheet Pettersson here.
And $5M is probably right and could be a steal honestly. Really a big fan of the player.

Really wanted the player in Calgary but glad we stayed away from the OEL albatross
Garland is not the problem in the trade he’ll be good

I feel like $5M/yr is a bit high for this player so I like it.

This player kind of feels overrated to me. A single 20 goal season at the age of 25 isn't exactly worthy of a term deal at $5 million per season.

Way too much money. Not much of a track record and gets a contract like that? Ouch. Offer sheet Pettersen.

That one scares me just as much, if not more. It will take a +$10 m offer sheet to acquires Pettersson, and I am far from convinced that he is worth it.

Same age and size, opposite wing, slightly fewer points for Andrew (haven’t looked up even strength points of fancy stats but I suspect AM has better numbers).

Garland is a great player though, still developing, he's probably over a point per game in the near future.
I like that it crushes Vancouver's cap though

All this offer sheet talk for Petterson doesn't seem like reality.
I just don't see him signing with another team. He's got a great City there in Vancouver, he's got the Sedins looking out for him, now he's got another Swedish veteran in OEL to lean on.
Plus Swedes just seem like the loyal type or just happy to be playing for one team and there's a strong Swedish tradition with the Canucks.
It takes a bit of selfish type to actually sign an offer sheet. Kesler comes to mind.

Oh same here. Just want to see the Canucks under some pressure for spending money in bad places.

He averaged 55 points per 82 games over the last two seasons.
4.95 mill is a slight underpayment, if anything.
