Good pickup for the Sharks, Hill is a good goalie

Arizona was likely to lose Hill in the expansion draft.

Wonder what the price is.

I wonder if the Flames were looking at Hill as well... some local connections I believe.

Why? So they could trade for him and then lose him in expansion draft?

Good bit of work by Arizona. They get a 2nd in ‘22, and if things stay the same it’s probably going to be a pretty good 2nd rounder.

There's going to be a lot of goalie musical chairs happening this off season. Looks like Hill is off the list now.

What am I missing? How does this make SJ any better?

Hill is being protected by SJ. He’s a good goalie.

Is he good? 49 career games and a .909 kind of screams average to me.

I think he is a decent goalie. I think he is a lot like Rittich. He does have a better SV%, but he also only played in 49 game. He seems to be better at stopping high danger chances than the low danger ones. Which seems consistent with a goalie finding his way around the league. I just don't see this move as being the difference between SJ being a playoff team and not.

I guess I simply over value 2nd round picks.

A lot of mock expansion draft lists mentioned Hill as a possible young goalie candidate for the Kraken to mould into a starter. He's caught the eye of a lot of scouts recently. The Sharks are definitely protecting him over Jones.

Check out Martin Jones' stats. Then check his cap hit. This will make perfect sense after doing that.
