Icon42 Tarasenko has requested a trade and the Blues interest in Tkachuk

https://theathletic.com/2690474/2021...ions-and-more/

Quote:
Tarasenko has officially requested a trade from the club, multiple sources have told The Athletic.

The right winger asked for the move earlier this offseason, and Blues general manager Doug Armstrong is currently attempting to facilitate the deal, according to league and team sources. There is no apparent timetable for a move, but the expectation is that it could happen before the start of the 2021-22 season.
per the article Tarasenko is unhappy as to how the Blues handled his shoulder injury. also per the article Tarasenko has provided a list of 10 teams but with cap issues it might be difficult to accommodate his choices.

Also on Tkachuk from the article:

Quote:
Do the Blues dream big and go after Calgary’s Matthew Tkachuk?

Sources say the club has interest in Tkachuk, the oldest son of former Blues player Keith Tkachuk, who is a college scout for the team. The 23-year-old may not be available now, but he has just one year left on his three-year, $21 million contract, after which he’ll be a restricted free agent and could force the Flames’ hand to trade him before he becomes unrestricted.

According to sources, it would take much more than Tarasenko to pry Tkachuk away Calgary, and that’s if Tarasenko would even waive his no-trade clause to go to western Canada, which isn’t a guarantee.

A goal scoring RW is exactly what we need, but I'm worried he's damaged goods

3 shoulder surgeries, and only 7 goals in 34 games in the last 2 full seasons

Right wing?

We will take him.

Edit: at a discount, that is.

This guy will never be the player he once was. Complete pass on a hail mary when his time has passed and we can’t take that gamble with proven assets. F that.

He's a $15 million injury risk at this point so I'm not sure he has a lot of value as a trade piece unless a big contract for an underperforming player is going the other way. I just don't think the Blues make for a good trade partner for Tkachuk as they don't have any blue chip prospects or young players worthy. I doubt he would waive for Calgary anyway so probably moot.

Mind you, he rehabbed the whole season until March and then when he came back he didn’t miss a game through the POs. 14 points in 24 games wasn’t awesome, just under .6 PPG, just a 47 point pace. But then again, Monahan had a worse PPG and is arguably an injury risk too. It might be a trade that makes sense.

If you want a bigger deal: Monahan and Tkachuk for Tarasenko, Kyrou and Neighbors

Not unless the add is 2 1st rounders and their best prospect. And then it's probably still a no

Robert Thomas would be a great addition.

Tkachuk is our biggest trade chip and should only be moved in a package for a top line center.

No to Tarasenko. The Blues would have to add a TON of other pieces, enough to make the trade look lopsided in Calgary’s favour if they want Tkachuk that badly.

Maybe in a deal for Monahan but the Flames need to aim higher when it comes to moving Tkachuk. They need to get a young player or prospect with elite potential. Middle 6 player isn't good enough.

I don't mind this news. If Tkachuk is ever on the table, I want as many teams 'in' as possible to increase the bidding. Also, while it doesn't happen very often, it may open the door for a 3-way trade. I have no idea what it looks like, but the more teams that want Tkachuk, the easier it is for Calgary to get value if Tkachuk is ever traded.

When I look at the Blues I just do not see any pieces worth Tkachuk who would become their franchise player and captain eventually.

Maybe a 3 team trade but then that doesn’t make sense either unless it is Eichel and I do not see the Sabres loving a package headlined by Robert Thomas as a key piece in that deal.

Let Tkachuk force the Flames hand. I would rather have him for 2 years than give him up now for a pile of meh

I’d wager there’s 31 other teams with interest in Tkachuk too.

Monny for Tarasenko may make sense.

If we include Tkachuk, it basically needs to be a separate deal for value.

Hot take - if you officially demand a trade your no trade clause should be automatically waived.

Other hot take: the most common answer to a player demanding a trade should be something to the effect of, "#### you, play better and increase your value and we'll consider it."

Tarasenko has tonnes of value, and all of it negative.
