The Avs, a team much closer to contending than us, are out their being proactive and trading away a very good defenceman so as to not lose an asset for nothing…
…and us, a non-playoff team, are doing everything we can to persuade Seattle to not take our 38 year old (very good) defenceman or will just lose him for nothing.

Lol Ryan Graves is a younger Dman who is attractive to a lot more teams than Giordano. This would be more like trading Andersson or Tanev.

Giordano > Graves, at least for next season - but more importantly, it’s just Colorado not willing to lose an asset for nothing - which stands in stark contrast to how we seem to do things here.
Just frustrating, that’s all.

If the Flames could get an asset for Giordano they probably would. The problem is he has
a) trade protection
b) a pretty significant cap hit
c) the team that gives up assets for him will need to use an expansion protection slot on him over younger players

So in order for the Flames to not lose an asset would you be happy if they traded one of Hanifin, Andersson, or Tanev? Gio is not a long term piece and will end up going to a contender if he is traded. Which sure-fire playoff team has a slot open for Gio?
No, they haven't earned it. Bash them for things they've done. Don't bash them for things that haven't happened, or for things that have nothing whatever to do with them.

Doing everything we can? Really? What exactly have the flames done so far? Ask nicely?
Maybe Tre is very, very persuasive.

Oh yes, they have most definitely earned it. Terribly run org if your measure is on ice success.
I'm talking about bashing them for things they've done.
But, at the same time, I will bash them for whatever I want and whenever I want, thanks.

Good trade for the Devils. Exactly what they need. Maltsev is an interesting young player. Showed some flashes this season.
Oh, sorry...wrong thread.

This may up the price to pay Seattle to have them not take Gio. I doubt Francis is going to get soft now as I feel Graves would have likely been a top pick for them.
