Okay, then do slashing, hooking, and interference.

All minor issues, do hitting from behind before anything.

If I’m the GM for any team but Tampa, screw penalties, all I want to talk about is fixing the IR/playoff salary cap loop hole.

I hope the address the cross checking to clear the front of net. That gets nasty, and it's crazy to me that it's just let go, but if the defender knocks a stick out of a hand instead, it's a penalty

Then do actually calling the penalties as written.

Interference especially. The other ones are actually pretty obvious. But Jesus Christ Interference... so bad.

It's becoming routine to see defenders rub or hold up offensive players chasing a puck dumped into the corner which is plainly obvious for the officials to see yet it's being allowed again. It drives me nuts because it should be a simple call when a player that doesn't have possession of the puck is obstructed.

Other GMs aren't going to complain too loudly, because they'd like to do the same thing if they're able.

Yup. If they wanted a salary cap that couldn't be gamed, they would have made it that way in the first place.

It’s allowed except when it isn’t. It’s a frustrating call/non-call. The only thing I can think is that if the Dman has the position they are letting it go because he’s not required to move out of the way.

But Ron MacLean told me the attacking forward has the right of way! At least when his name is Connor McDavid. Are you saying he was ***gasp*** WRONG?!

Addressing and clarifying all the different penalties is a good start, but until we have complete access behind the Referee Iron Curtain so we can all see how the sausage is made, it won't change anything.
You can make cross-checking as black and white as you want to, but if someone's telling the refs to manage games, or giving them permission to treat one game different from the next, it's not going to mean anything to anyone.

It probably won't be a popular opinion but I think that every crosscheck no matter how small should be called a penalty.
Why does a hockey player ever need to crosscheck someone? When is it ever a hockey play?
If a defender is in a position where they NEED to crosscheck another player in order to prevent a scoring chance its because they are out of position. Too bad, so sad.

I agree, and same with slashing. It means you’re out of position. If you reach forward with your stick and make contact with a player other than a really clean stick lift it’s a penalty.
