Poll Request: Should the Flames hire Davidson and Gorton this off-season?
Would you replace Treliving and bring in this pair?
Curious to see what folks thoughts are on trying to lure the pair to Calgary (if that's even possible).

I think the question should be restricted to Gorton.

Bean doesn't have to be replaced in a event that a POHO is brought in externally. Bean is essentially the new Ken King I believe. So he runs CSEC as a whole.

If Tre is booted Conroy is more than likely to take the reigns.

I may be wrong, but isn't John Bean the CEO and President of CSEC? That is Ken King's position, not Burke's. I would be fine in bringing Davidson in as the President of the Calgary Flames, to work under Bean and to have oversight on Treliving. I have no idea if Davidson would be an upgrade or a downgrade on Bean.

Back before Burke was hired and it was rumoured that King was looking for a POHO, Davidson was my choice if they could lure him away from Columbus.
My summer wish list: Davidson as POHO. Lombardi as GM.

My only reservation with Lombardi is how different he is over Treliving's handling of contracts. Some of those LA contracts that he signed look atrocious. Otherwise, he would be the guy I look at as well.

Not trying to discredit Gorton’s work but he was aided by winning the draft lottery twice, getting a Norris caliber defenceman only wanting to sign with his team, and one of the top 10 NHL scorers wanting to sign with him.

I don't think anyone can properly fix this mess, because I doubt ownership will allow what is needed to happen, happen. And that's a full tear down and rebuild.

I think there should be separate polls.
Should the Flames hire Davidson as el presidente?
Should the Flames fire Treliving and hire Gorton, Rutherford, Lombardi, or other as GM?

Davidson is a absolute yes in my opinion. They should always have a POHO that oversees the organization and makes it easier to steer the ship long term if a change at GM needs to be made. It is a decade long position at least and Burke left too soon imo.
Gorton I would be fine with but not necessary like JD

I think if the Flames bring in Davidson, then Treliving is out for sure. One of the underlying reasons that Burke left - as he himself put it - is that he stated he has nothing to do as Treliving has learned enough and doesn't need him. To now create the role of President and hire someone over Treliving would probably mean that Treliving is out.
However, I do think that the role is President should be a role that the Flames carry forward. I am personally ok with Treliving either stepping down or getting fired, so no issues for me on hiring Davidson (or even someone else who is a strong candidate that becomes available in the off-season).

It was a more ownership driven decision though. It seems like he would have been happy to stay on (he really enjoyed his time in Calgary) but ownership felt like Brad was good enough to fly solo.

I really don't know enough about what a president does or the one we currently have to make an educated opinion. But I do know JD has an impeccable reputation and has been linked to Calgary in the past, so that makes me really interested for sure.

That would be such an Oilers thing to do.
And I love me some Conroy - I met him at a player/fan skate when he was a Fredericton Canadian. He’s a gem, and I’m sure it’s not his fault this group is where it is.
But I don’t for a second think shouldn’t get this job.

Davidson+Lombardi+Sutter would be an impressive group to build this franchise moving forward.

Not trying to discredit?! That's exactly what your post is doing.
His trade record is pretty darn good.

I honestly don't think it matters who comes in if the marching orders are still the same. If you're going to try and tweek this roster you're just going to get more of the same. Clean house, bring in a new group, build it back from the ground up. Otherwise keep finishing 20th in the league
