I think Sutter sees Dube's pedigree as captain of a gold medal WJHC team, and expects another level overall than what he is seeing.
And, Sutter doesn't have an even playing field in that regard.

What do you mean by the last sentence?

Hoping Dube does grow his game significantly under Sutter's watch. There's a chance he can be a top 6 centre/winger for the team in the long run.

I’d honeslty rather see 5 guys up there over Ritchie. Ritchie is fine on the 4th line for what he does (I guess) but constantly getting top 6 minutes is kind of driving me nuts

I mean IMO that Sutter's expectations of players is based on what he sees their potential as, and treats them as such.

Given Dube's pedigree, Sutter s likely 3x as hard on Dube as maybe any other forward on the roster. It's unfair to Dube in the short term but Sutter is playing the long game with him to be a future leader on this team.

Dube has the 6th highest point per 60 minutes on the team: 1.817He's about the same as Monahan and Mangiapane.

Ritchie has the 14th highest point per 60 minutes on the team: 1.045
He's about the same as Rasmus Andersson and Derek Ryan.

I don't think this move will lead to more production or development.

Production, no. Development, in Sutter's mind, absolutely.

He's certainly not worrying about the decimal places in Dube's production over 60 minutes, or that he's on par with Mangiapane stats wise, he's expecting something more intangible from Dube to evolve into the player he can be at 22 and a former world Junior winning capitan, and Sutter hasn't seen it enough yet.

That could be true. And I do think development is the top priority. If it works, props to Sutter for sure.

Untapped potential is about to be tapped into. I think Dube is a gamebreaker in the making.
I feel the same about Lindholm and Eat bread.

Under Sutters guidance they'll be better 200 foot players that can be used in all situations and that's how cups get won.

Making players interchangeable and increasing the value. Sutter may not be pretty but he's effective.

I hope all of these guys embraces roles offered and want more.

Sutter was absolutely BANG on when assessing Tres blueprint but how that blueprint wasn't being built properly to achieve the architect's vision.

Get these guys playing with pace to their potential . Finding out how much more can be unlocked and how many more gears are left to use is how this team changes . I love this team now that Darryl is back.

Next year under normal circumstances these guys will be ready because they'll know what's expected of them on a consistent basis.

I think Ritchie gets opportunities because of his effort. but as mentioned he expects more if the player has more potential. This would be that "carrot" Sutter was recently talking about.

I’m thinking he’s earning it off of effort. I have no problem with if your trying the hardest your getting rewarded for it. The team has had a glaring culture issue. If you bust your ass you get opportunity. The way it should be. I’d imagine Dube comes out flying next game as well.

OTT is very good at pressuring the puck, especially pressuring CGY point men. IIRC OTT was very good at PK because of this but also resulted in just making CGY offense non threatening (especially if looking for shots from up top).
OTT fast and disciplined and scored on rush chances in past games.

I think you're absolutely right here. Sutter's being a hardass as a motivating tool.

Sutter seems to like to send Dube to the Doghouse.
Ritchie back with Monahan. That line will be dead.

That will increase Monahan’s trade value. |

I don't really care too much if he's giving Dube tough love seeing the team isn't going to make the playoffs. Dube needs to be better. I assume the Flames will re-sign Ritchie seeing he appears to be a Sutter favorite but if Ritchie gets top 6 minutes next season it's going to be a long year and not likely a fruitful one for the organization.

			Lucic is going to Seattle
Ritchie is being groomed to replace him

Dube is so good but he needs to be hold back for the tank

Hey, I am told I need to post positive stuff here.

It is a form of public humiliation mean to spur on better performance. Everyone can see that Ritchie is an ECHL player. Having him on the ice instead of you is a message to any player.
