I was pretty sad that BSD got traded and to the Leafs for that matter. I think Rittich is an adequate NHL goalie and I'm sure he'll do just fine on any team that doesn't suck as bad as the current Flames roster, especially going into the playoffs. Really feel bad for the guy who has shown so much emotions and character for this team. BSD gave us some of the highs over these past couple of seasons and I'm sure he'll continue to do that with the Leafs. I hate the Leafs probably more than I hate the Oilers, but you're on a way better team this pandemic. Keep your head high, dude. Wish you the best on this playoff run!

Dave was a great Flame

Too bad he had mid season injuries that couple of years, as pre injuries he was putting up very good starter numbers. I think he is excellent as at least a 1A / 1B and will be cheering for him and Brodie on the Leafs except for when they play the Flames

Rittich was an awesome guy and I loved his passion. Cheering Johnny when he was on the breakaway and the stick flip when we won the first 3 games against the Oilers last year.

Considering I hate all other Canadian teams I am likely rooting for the Leafs now that they have Rittich along with Brodie.

I have incredible respect for Rittich.

Undrafted.

Playing in the Czech league.

Gets a random scout that sees him one day while viewing another player and they say "hey, give him a shot on a minor league deal".

Goes to the AHL and works hard on his game, adjusting to NHL ice and a different style of play.

Works his way up beyond other prospects that were drafted by the organization and had years of planning/development put into them.

Forces his way onto the team as a backup. Proves that he can play good hockey in the NHL.

Slowly takes over the starter's net from Smith and eventually has an all-star appearance (albeit due to injury replacement).

Has struggles here and there, but never stops battling. Comes out every game and gives it his all.

God, I love players like this and stories like that. Keep battling Dave! I wish you all the best in Toronto.

Sorry I meant the presser after the game a few days ago when Dave was was angered by a question about the trade deadline. His voice was shaking and he told the reporter to stop looking for a story and that the Flames were his team.

One of my fav Flames goalies all time is Rittich because of his path to the show and because of who he is as a person. Toronto is getting a guy who will be as passionate as you can hope a player can be and I wish him the very best.
