Ducks Canes trade Haydn Fleury to Ducks for Jani Hakanpaa and 6th

Pierre LeBrun @PierreVLeBrun
Haydn Fleury has been traded to Anaheim

Pierre LeBrun @PierreVLeBrun
Hakanpaa and a 6th RD pick for Fleury is the full deal

Something involving Rakell? Or possibly Josh Manson, I guess, if Anaheim is just trying to get younger.

Um, okay. One wonders why they think this is an upgrade on Fleury for a playoff run.

Moving Fleury is an expansion draft related move.

Canes were thinking they were going to lose him in the expansion draft.

Yeah, but they're one of the best teams in the league. They should be going for it here. If you lose your fifth best d-man to Seattle in the summer, such is life. Instead, they end up with the grand prize of... a 6th round draft pick? Is that worth it?

I don't know, I feel like this is overthinking it.

Fleury was taken 3 spots after Bennett and got pretty much nothing.
Michael Dal Colle (#5) not looking like much either.

And they can't even give Virtanen away.
