Gusev is an interesting name. UFA after this season. Right shot winger. but bad season. $4.5mil cap hit

But Sutter is our coach now and he doesn’t really fit in, but a skilled RW would be a nice fit

I'd love the Flames to grab Gusev but uhh, that cap hit just ain't gonna work. He's pretty close to what the Flames have been lacking.

Nikita Gusev is 28 and had 44 points in 66 games last year.
He has really struggled this year.

Does Gusev play right wing? He's listed as a Left Winger, but obviously we could really use some skill and offence.

Outside of being a RHS with extreme skill Gusev is a brutal fit for this roster.

He's extremely soft, a poor skater, and can't defend worth a lick. He and Gaudreau would be fun to watch on the PP but otherwise, yikes.

4.5M is simply too rich for anyone to claim him (one would think)

I’d stay away from Gusev. If you want him then go for him in the offseason. Not a good fit though with what Sutter expects from this team.

Would be nice to take Gusev on a short trial run but we are pretty much capped out as usual.

Gusev is a gamble I would take.

You have to factor in that we have Sutter here now. Players tend to mature quickly under him as he puts them through the ringer.

I see claiming Gusev as an opportunity to audition a top 6 RW. If he works out, great we can offer him a contract. If he’s a dud, he can leave in free agency.
