Longtime linesman Swede Knox passes away
Loses his battle with cancer at age 73.
Dude was one of the best in the game at his job...when his job was 10 times harder than it is today. Did over 2000 NHL games IIRC.
RIP

Swede Knox was a linesman I grew up with (along with Ray Scapinello and John D'Amico) and was synonymous with NHL hockey throughout the 70s and 80s. Sadly, Ray is the only one that is still us. RIP to a fine linesman.

Wasn't Swede Knox one of the giant linesman? Like around Zdeno Chara's height?
When I was a kid, I used to think they deliberately chose large linesman to break up fights and scrums, LOL. I think Swede might have been one of these big on-ice officials that I remember.

I think you're thinking of Mike Cvik.

No he wasn't particularly big that i recall.....maybe you're thinking of Mike Cvik?
But yes...Swede was there through the whole era from the Broadstreet Bullies to his retirement in the early 2000's.
