Default Chocolate, steak and vinegar

That's what this team is, it is somehow bafflingly comprised of components that individually have merits, but when combined just make muck.

The 2021 Flames: chocolate, steak and vinegar.

A lesson in how to build a team that is less than the sum of its parts.

Who do you keep to at this point ?

More like hot dogs, macaroni and cheese and poopy toots.

There ain’t no steak or chocolate on this team

Somehow this team & core was steak and lobster with 107 points and 1st in the West under Peters in 2018-19

How did they become rotten?

Pretty much. Good ingredients but they just don't go well together

Better just put a diaper on this team. Telling us how close they are. So full of things that fill diapers.....over flowing diapers with the crap running up their backs.....
If your a parent you know that's the worst diaper change .

Shake hands with your teammates boys ....changes be coming.

Monahan, Gio, and the powerplay have gone off an absolute cliff

Besides that what is concerning to me is that there isn’t MUCH else different from that team. Goaltending has improved and some players have taken steps forwards like 88 and 55. Roster turnover has been minimal

This just isn’t true. We need to ditch the illusion that this is a talented roster made up of good pieces. It’s not.

The players got paid and they stopped caring?

Only one player from that core got a big payday in Tkachuk he was great last season after his raise

Mangiapane got a raise but he’s still badly outperforming it

Point is there are definitely individual players on this team I like, but the current combined roster, as evidenced by performance, will not be bringing any cups home. It is not a success.

Do you hold on to anybody at this point or is anyone on the table for the right return ? For me, even though I like certain players, anyone is on the table at this stage.

Gio going from a Norris calibre D to a 3-4 guy is a pretty big change.

Then our inability to ice an effective first line, playing Ritchie with Gaudreau/Monahan.

I get what you're throwing down.

I look at the talent on this roster and there's enough to be a contender for the division. Instead we're getting embarrassed by Ottawa on the regular.

I don't think I've ever seen a team underperform compared to their talent quite this badly. I'm also convinced that if you split up all the talent they would all contribute meaningfully on other teams.

This team is cursed. The gods hate us. No other way to explain it. It simply defies logic how bad this team plays.

Actually it's skittles, toast, Swedish meatballs and spaghetti smothered in government cheese.

That all star break really does look like the point where this core went off the rails.

Didn't think much of it at first but going back it does seem to be that pivotal moment the core lost their pride. Been downhill since.

I would be interested in learning more about this 'government cheese', sounds uniquely pungent.

Boring and uneventful.
