Default Wild welcome Ilya

The Minnesota Wild are pleased to announce a major trade that sees uber-sniper Ilya Kovalchuk head to the Twin Cities.

The full details of the transaction are Dany Heatley, Rene Bourque, Ryan Getzlaf, Marco Sturm and a 5th rounder to the Coyotes in exchange for Kovalchuk, Danius Zubrus, Ales Hemsky, and cash consideration.

GM Grant Farhall commented on the deal.

“Ilya is arguably the most talented player we’ve ever had in our organization. Dany was a very good young player as well and long-term it will be interesting to see how this deals flushes out. However, for now we feel that Ilya gives us when of the best pure goal scorers in the league. Danius is a guy that will play on our top 3 lines and put up some points. Ales is a very talented young man we like a lot. Unfortunately because of the salary cap he will start things off down in Houston but we expect to have him back soon”.

Nice Trade guys. Grant makes it sound like the reason for the trade is Ilya. I have a theory that the motive was really to move Sturm. I told him lastnight that the Wild was the new target of the Hawks GM obsession, particularily Sturm. He immediately contacts the newbie GM and trades Sturm to him!! Coincidence? I think not, I think Kev and the previous object of obsession Hudler, have been crying on Grants shoulder.

hehe nice try

Ales Hemsky is the best player in this deal by a mile. The kid is the most talented offensive hockey player since Gretzky.
